She & the Light

If you’re going to need a rain check, you might as well make it count! When Michelle’s bridal session was unexpectedly moved, she and photographer JoAnna decided to take the reschedule to a whole new level – what resulted was a heavenly session dripping in sunlight, proof that sometimes Take 2 is far more lovely than one ever could have hoped!

Love notes from the bride, Michelle:

“After having to cancel my first bridal session due to rain, JoAnna began sharing several other places to get my bridals done at. The San Jose Mission‘s unique architecture immediately caught my eye. These bridal portraits will be a special treasure to me and I am so thankful JoAnna was able to capture them.”

A word from photographer JoAnna Robertson:

“This sweet bride scheduled a bridal session with me early this summer. However, both her engagement session and bridal session kept getting rescheduled due to the major rain Texas received this summer and fall.

After talking to her about alternate shoot locations that might work in bad weather, I decided to pitch her a wildcard idea about flying to San Antonio to take her bridal session at Mission San Jose! She agreed and flew me down for the shoot! I shot longer on this session than I typically do, but our permit was for 2.5 hours, and I spent a bit of time dodging tourists! The weather and light couldn’t have been more perfect!

I thought her lovely bell sleeved dress and gorgeous hair fit so well with the location, especially paired with the gorgeous light, and the timeless look of film. My friend and stylist, Kasey Lee & Co. traveled to San Antonio too and helped with creative direction, adjusting the dress, hair and bouquet for the entire session.

This session really inspired me creatively and challenged me as an artist. Stylistically speaking, it fits my brand very well, and the light that we lucked into was icing on the cake. I enjoyed working with Kasey and having her help with the creative direction portion of the shoot, as well as making sure all the details were perfect!”
