There’s something eternally romantic about the California coastline—the way the cliffs meet the sea, the golden light that lingers a little longer, and the whisper of waves brushing the shore. For Angela and Kaden, Big Sur became more than just a backdrop; it became the canvas for a chapter in their love story that felt both grounding and wildly free.
Captured by Jaded Photography, this coastal engagement session feels like a breath of ocean air—full of movement, emotion, and ease. The pair wandered the shoreline and danced barefoot in the sand, their connection undeniable, their joy infectious. As the sun dipped below the horizon, their love felt as expansive as the sea behind them—timeless, true, and ready for forever.
As I stood on the sun-kissed sands, the rhythmic sound of waves lapping against the shore serenaded me, setting the perfect backdrop for the beautiful souls I was about to photograph. The couple I was capturing was brimming with an infectious energy, an unspoken chemistry radiating from them like sunlight piercing through the clouds. Their laughter danced on the breeze, and I knew that this session would be something special. – Jaded Photography
How did you two meet? What were your first impressions of one another?
It all started at my aunt’s house. Kaden was my cousin’s best friend, so we were introduced in that familiar, easygoing way that family-friend connections often begin. From the very start, there was an unspoken chemistry between us. We both felt an undeniable attraction but we kept things friendly, respecting the line that existed between us.
As time passed, we started seeing each other more and more. Whether it was group outings, late-night talks, or spontaneous adventures, we found ourselves drawn to each other’s energy. It wasn’t dramatic or rushed. Instead, our friendship slowly and naturally evolved into something deeper. We laughed a lot, shared pieces of our lives, and got to know each other in a way that made falling in love feel inevitable.
That December, he came with my cousins and our family on a trip to Mexico. Something about that time together, away from everyday life, made everything clearer. Surrounded by warmth, laughter, and beautiful scenery, our connection deepened. We were no longer just friends, or even just dating, we were something real. From that trip on, we were inseparable.
Describe a hurdle you had to overcome in your relationship or during your wedding planning.
Right now we are just goin with the flow. There is no pressure or any strict timelines, no binder full of color-coded plans (yet). But while we’re soaking in this sweet engagement we do know what our dream wedding looks like: a destination celebration in Mexico, surrounded by all of our favorite people. The location holds a special place in our hearts. There’s something really beautiful about saying “I do” in a place that means so much to my family where we met. It feels like bringing our love story full circle, grounding it inn tradition while celebrating the future together. For now, we’re enjoying the journey. We’re gathering ideas, dreaming big, and trusting that it will all come together in the most natural meaningful way.
Any special ways you incorporated your family or family history into your wedding day?
I think just being in the place where our love began together, surrounded by our family and friends we love most is something very important to both of us on our wedding day.
What is the best thing you’ve learned from one another?
The best thing we have learned from one another is communication, have an open dialogue leads to clearer understanding and fewer misunderstandings.
What is your favorite thing about each other?
Angela: He loves me just the way I am. He loves me from the inside out.
Kaden: Her smile, it stops me in my tracks.
What was your favorite part about planning your wedding?
Our favorite part about planning our wedding is envisioning the day I am walking down the isle and dancing our first dance around the dance floor as newlyweds.
If you had one piece of advice for other couples, what would it be?
The best piece of advice we can give other couples is choose one another every day. Choose to love each other, even in those moments when your struggling to like each other. Love is a commitment, not a feeling.
What is the most honest thing you can say about love?
Love is honest, even when it hurts. Love is patience when things don’t go as planned. Love is imperfect. Love can make you do anything spontaneous.
