A Maternity Session at Home

Simple and beautiful. We love this maternity session that just brings all the family together for some sweet photos celebrating the birth of a new little one!

from the photographer: “When Jenn reached out to me regarding maternity portraits she advised that she had a specific vision for her portraits. After learning more, I was elated with her ideas and inspiration but most importantly, the meaningfulness behind her vision. She knew she wanted her portraits to portray a soft, intimate, playful vibe with a touch of elegance. she also wanted her images to be different than standard maternity portraits that are oftentimes heavily focused on the mom-to-be only. She expressed that it was important that her husband and two daughters be included in these portraits as Jenn isn’t the only one who is expecting. Her husband will be welcoming his third child, and her daughters will be welcoming their new sibling!

Jenn chose to host her maternity session in her beautiful custom built home that lent us an abundance of the most incredible natural light I’ve ever seen a home offer. The neutral color palette and timeless decor throughout her home was the perfect pairing for the light and airy aesthetic of her portraits, and the stunning 8 foot brass frame mirror provided the subtle touch of elegance Jenn had envisioned.

The Howells family will be welcoming their newest addition in a few short weeks and I’m honored to have had the privilege of documenting their last bit of time as a family of four, as well as capturing the beginning of a new chapter for their growing family.”

What’s your favorite family pastime? Our favorite family pastimes come down to something as simple as weekly Sunday dinners after church with our immediate families. After having a busy week, to be able to slow down and gather together is something we look forward to! Celebrating holiday traditions and annual vacations are also something we look forward to – creating new memories are important ❤️

Any lessons you learned as a family through the last year? Lessons we learned in the last year were learning how to use our downtime more wisely and productively (watching shows & movies together as a family, going for walks, playing outside, etc). Discovering new talents & skills (teaching my girls to cook and be in the kitchen & garden together, husband working on home projects and the girls & I lending a hand or re-organizing our home). Personally, we’ve learned to have a new perspective on every area of our lives. Having even more gratitude for the little and big things in our lives.

Tell us a fun or silly story that happened to your family! My sister, brother & I all had our kids within a year apart. Therefore, all 3 of us were pregnant at the same time! ❤️❤️❤️

What does family mean to you? Family means everything, literally. I have grown up in a big family that has shrunk as I grew up – family moving away. In the recent years, it has just been our immediate family so growing our family and having our children being raised with lots of cousins, grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc. means a lot. The memories, the bond, and the close relationships being webbed between each other is something we cherish. To have a loving & supportive family has never been more important and this pandemic and having babies has only made us realize that even more. I couldn’t imagine going through life without my family to love & lean on ❤️
