We love the special connections that photographers often have with their couples! Few, however, are quite as special as the bond between Christi & Nicholas and their photographer Holly of Holly Grace Photography: Holly and Christi are twin sisters! What an incredible blessing to not only witness such a blissful season in your twin’s life, but also be able to capture that season for her and her love!

“This shoot was incredibly special to me because it is of my twin sister and her fiancé. Christi and I have done everything together our whole lives and so it was an immense honor to have her ask me to do their engagement photographs. Christi and I grew up going to school with her fiancé Nicholas from kindergarten all the way through part of high school. I knew that he had always been in love with her but she just wasn’t very interested in him until he started pursuing her while we were in college. His gentle, active and creative way of loving her won her heart over more quickly than we ever thought possible. They are two of the most intelligent, passionate, gentle and loving people that I have ever known. Since she is my sister, I get to see the every day ways that Nicholas loves Christi that led to so many precious images on this day. An example is that Nicholas never lets my sister put on or take off her own shoes. He lovingly puts them on her feet and takes them off every day that he is with her. When I first saw him do this I asked Christi about it and she told me that he heard a story of an elderly man who had done this for his wife every day of their lives as an act of love and service and Nicholas has chosen to do the same.
These images reflect their relationship so authentically. They are easy going and very affectionate in a way that always warms your heart. It was so easy to photograph them because they just interacted and moved so naturally together.
I will never be able to fully put into words how much my dear sister means to my heart, nor how greateful I am that she has found a man like Nicholas to love and lead her as her husband. Using my art to create an heirloom of their love story is one of the most meaningful ways how I can begin to tell them how much I love them.”
Tell us a funny story relating to your wedding day or relationship!
Christi: “In 7th grade, we “dated” for a couple months, but never really talked at school. For my birthday, Nicholas came to my house with a ride from his mom and gave me Reese’s and $20.00. As I was thanking him for the gift, especially for the money, Nicholas responded with, “It’s okay. I didn’t need it anyway.” We have laughed about his gift and his very thoughtful response since!”
Describe a hurdle you had to overcome in your relationship or during your wedding planning.
Christi: “All of our dating relationship and engagement has been long distance. This has created some tension and strain on our relationship but has taught us so much about communicating effectively and loving each other from five hours apart. And a lot of grace. Lots of grace. It has not been easy, especially during our engagement season when we long to be together, but we are thankful for all of the growth that has been produced because of it.”
What is your favorite thing about each other?
Christi: “My favorite thing about Nicholas is his passion for learning. You can always count on Nick to have an interesting fact and to have the ability to jump into any conversation with information about any subject. His passion for more knowledge is seen in all areas of his life, and challenges me to expand my knowledge and to never stop learning in all aspects of my life.”
Nicholas: “Out of all the things there are to love about Christi, my favorite is easily her love for Jesus. She constantly pushes me to grow in my faith, and it’s so encouraging to know that the strongest glue between us is our mutual love for Christ! I love her more and more each day as she becomes more and more like Him.”
