What good is a Tuesday without a little floral fabulousness? Today, we have the wonderful pleasure of introducing the incredibly talented Shean Strong to all of you Wrenfolk! We’ve been following Shean’s journey for some time now, and he and his team have been responsible for countless moments of awe and wonder, transforming ordinary events into stunning feats of design! All this to say, Atlanta is blessed indeed with this gem of a crew adorning its spaces — so, we thought we’d get to know the man behind the brand and share a little insight!
From Shean Strong:
“Hi! I’m Shean Strong — I am the owner of SHEAN STRONG — an event styling and floral design company in based in Atlanta, Georgia. We curate beautiful and timeless, weddings and events.”
How did you get your start in the industry, and how has your business grown into what it is today?
“Like many floral designers in the wedding industry — I fell into… and fell in love with the floral design. I’ve always been a pretty creative person, and after a friend asked me to help her with her wedding I was hooked. I ended up booking two clients at her wedding and knew I wanted to do this full time. I had very limited knowledge of what I wanted to do, so after investing in some courses, freelancing for several local designers, and getting my ducks in a row, I created my company. I had a really good foundation when I started and I think people continually book with us because our designs are intentionally tailored for our clients, we are transparent with them with a refinement brought to you by SHEAN STRONG.”
What is the heart behind your business?
“The heart behind my business is… my love for love. I’m the epitome of a hopeless romantic and genuinely love designing and curating a day that is as unique as the couple I’m working with. I’m humbled each time a contract is signed — my clients are trusting me with one of the most important days in their life. I don’t take that lightly.”
Where do you find your greatest source of inspiration in your design process?
“Honestly, when looking for inspiration, I draw ideas from many places — I love art history and pulling inspiration from classical painters and sculptors. I love how music evokes a feeling, and I like trying to mirror that feeling with a visual. I can see a texture somewhere downtown and know that I eventually want to use a linen that mimics that, or I’ll see a collection of colors and want to incorporate that for the right person. When meeting with clients, I just pull those resources from past inspiring moments and marry it with the feeling they are trying to convey with their wedding or event.”
What do you most wish to accomplish with your work?
“I want to make sure my team is happy and teach young designers to be confident in themselves. That’s priority number one. When designers feel encouraged they create beautiful things. Their attitudes are great, they are confident and that reflects in their work — which inadvertently, makes my clients happy. It’s a win-win.”
What is the most rewarding part of your job?
“I love handing the bride her bouquet. Watching her light up is such a special moment — but I also love teaching. I try to host several workshops every year. Its great for those who love flowers. Its nice to know how to design a centerpiece — you never know when you need to whip something up. It challenges you creatively and anytime you’re able to learn a skill with the community, you know it’s going to be a great time.”
Dedication, design, and absolute floral bliss — there’s little else a girl could wish for! Make sure you head over to SHEAN STRONG and give their services a peek! If you’re interested in a lovely workshop like the one featured above, a little bird told me Shean will be hosting two more on the 30th and 31st, and we can only hope they’ll be so very much more to come!
