Old Town Engagement Session

Dillon and CK’s old town engagement session in Alexandria tells a tale of love, friendship, and new beginnings. Their beautiful love story, starting from a chance meeting through mutual friends, then a proposal at Dillon’s childhood home, which was so romantic it could be put on a movie screen! This is such a sweet reminder that when love finds us, it can lead to a lifetime of happiness.

This is a beautiful engagement session to celebrate Dillon and Ck, a couple local to their session location of Old Town Alexandria, Virginia. Their love story started when they met through mutual friends who were getting married. Since then, they have enjoyed life together. They are each other’s best friends and think the best time is the time they spend together.

CK proposed to Dillon at her childhood home. Her parents were moving from the home that she grew up in, which was bittersweet for her. As they were doing a last goodbye family photoshoot, CK popped the question and the rest is history! While Dillon has a million memories of that home, it will forever be the start of a new chapter for her. -Rachael Mattio Photography How did you two meet? What were your first impressions of one another? While Ck may have caught Dillon’s eye initially, it was mutual friends that helped set us up. Our friends liked to joke it was love at first sight and although that was probably hopeful thinking on their part, we were pretty inseparable from the beginning. Ck thought Dillon was super outgoing and even prettier than in the pictures from our matchmakers. Dillon was drawn to his looks, genuine personality, and great group of friends. Describe a hurdle you had to overcome in your relationship or during your wedding planning. We unfortunately lost Ck’s father just months before our wedding. It’s been a super difficult and unexpected loss, shifting life’s priorities for us. We’ve learned to appreciate every moment, big or small. While we will miss his physical presence on our big day tremendously, we know he will be watching over us then, and each step of the way. Any special ways you incorporated your family or family history into your wedding day? Funny enough, Dillon was planning to carry on a Kraft family tradition without even knowing it, carrying calla lilies! Using these flowers in the bridal bouquet goes back several generations on Ck’s side. Separately, Dillon will be wearing a family veil that her sister is also wearing just six months before. What part of your wedding day was/is most important to you? We can’t wait to have all of our favorite people in one place. They all have made an impact on our lives and our relationship… having them there to help us celebrate will be so special to us. We’re also beyond excited to have Rachael capture the day. Her work is amazing and we know we’re going to love looking back on the photos for years to come. What is your favorite thing about each other? Dillon’s favorite things about Ck are his love and appreciation for family, his dedication to his career, and the fact that he keeps her laughing pretty much all day long. Ck is her best friend.
Ck’s loves how great of a mother Dillon is to their pup Gracie and can’t wait to see her become a mother to their kids one day. He also loves her sense of humor, and that she puts friends and family above all else. Photographer: Rachael Mattio Photography
