Intimate Wedding with Delicate White Details

This beautiful wedding was filled with lovely green and white details with the Elizabeth & Matt’s closest family and friends there to celebrate with them! We’re drooling over that donut bar that they opted for, and loving the classic yet timeless look of this whole day! A clear top tent hosted the whole evening party with dancing going into the night under a starry sky.

How did you two meet? What were your first impressions of one another?

We met in high school (got married on our 11 year dating anniversary!). Though we didn’t go to the same school, we had mutual friends. It was a time when you “facebook friended” anyone you had mutual friends with, so one day I (Elizabeth) did just that by sending Matt a “friend request”. I didn’t think too much of it other than that he was cute, until a couple months later our mutual friends had told me he’d been talking & asking about me! At that point I decided to take things into my own hands & “slid into his DMs”… From there we had such great conversation that we wanted to meet in person, so we had our first “group date” at Chipotle…it didn’t go very well, I think we were both nervous & very quiet! We decided to give it one more chance with a solo date to Five Guys & we ended up staying until close talking the evening away, & the rest is history!

Describe a hurdle you had to overcome in your relationship or during your wedding planning.

In planning our wedding, a big hurdle we had to cross was deciding the location. We have friends & family all over the states (IL, NY, OH, PA, NC, CO, etc.) & while we wanted to make things convenient & easy for everyone, especially in the time of COVID, we knew that wouldn’t be possible. At one point we even considered a tropical elopement with just a few of our closest family members. In the end though, when finally choosing North Carolina, we had to go with what made sense for us, our budget, our wedding date (we wanted to get married in the fall, but also wanted to be outdoors!), etc. & we think that decision worked out perfectly.

Any special ways you incorporated your family or family history into your wedding day?

I (Elizabeth) am very close to my family, so I decided to have both my parents walk me down the aisle. They both mean so much to me I wanted them both to get to experience that special moment! On top of that, my grandma had gifted me an old, special decorative hanky of hers which I folded up and kept in the bodice of my dress.

What part of your wedding day was/is most important to you?

It was most important to us that all our friends & family had a BLAST, so honestly the reception was the most important part to us. Given we do have friends & family cross country, we don’t get to all be together as much as we might like, so having all of those special people so joyous & together in one space was our very favorite part. Elizabeth LOVES to dance & Matt enjoys a few (many) drinks with his best guys, so when you bring that all together, it made for a great night!! Our #1 memory is when the DJ played Matt’s favorite song “Mr. Brightside” & what felt like every single one of our guests came to the dance floor & all belted out the song tother!

What was your favorite part about planning your wedding?

Our favorite part about planning was that we DIDN’T have to plan, lol! We actually used the Mad Dash wedding planning team who took care of each & every detail (decor, venue, photography, DJ, food, etc.). We found wedding planning to be too stressful & it was getting in the way of our excitement, especially given we would have been planning a wedding in NC when we live in PA. So we felt so good about our decision to pass that all onto the Mad Dash team, so we could really soak up the happiness of being engaged & counting down the days until the wedding.

If you had one piece of advice for other couples, what would it be?

Wedding Day Advice: Worrying about the little details is not worth it & will put a damper on your day. Let your mind only be filled with the excitement & joy of having the most special people to you there to celebrate your love. You don’t want to look back & your memories be of stress but of blissful happiness instead!
