Hannah and Jimmy’s wedding in Omaha, Nebraska, was the perfect blend of East Coast elegance and Midwestern charm. Inspired by the bride’s Boston roots, their day unfolded like a coastal-chic dream, with soft blue hues, timeless details, and a sense of warmth that filled every moment. Their love story began in the most unexpected of places—at a neighborhood swim club across the street from St. Margaret Mary’s Church, where they would later exchange vows. From poolside conversations to a first date at their favorite local pizza spot, their relationship blossomed into a connection filled with shared faith, intentionality, and devotion.
The celebration began with a heartfelt ceremony at St. Margaret Mary’s, a place rich with sentimental ties to Jimmy’s family, followed by a sophisticated reception in the penthouse ballroom of Omaha’s Historic Cottonwood Hotel. With city views, art deco charm, and coastal-inspired florals, the reception was a stunning nod to Hannah’s New England heritage. Every detail reflected their story—from the custom card box crafted by Hannah’s dad to the cherished cake-cutting knives passed down from her parents’ wedding. It was a day that proved you don’t have to be by the ocean to channel coastal elegance—love, laughter, and intentionality were the true tides that carried this beautiful celebration.
How did you two meet? What were your first impressions of one another?
We met at a swim club—we both swam competitively in the past and we were both looking for a way to get back into the sport after time away and to make new friends as young adults. We started doing practices together over the summer, while I was more interested in chatting, Jimmy was very serious about his workouts. Towards the end of the summer, Jimmy asked me on our first date after a workout. We met at now one of our favorite neighborhood pizza spots right up the street from the pool. My first impressions of Jimmy was that he was very thoughtful and intentional. We shared a lot of interests together, most importantly our faith. My first impressions of Hannah was she that she is beautiful and thoughtful. We were both naturally the quiet type but we opened up to one another quickly!
Any special ways you incorporated your family or family history into your wedding day?
Hannah’s dad crafted our card box—he’s quite the carpenter! We currently use it as a place to keep special items from our wedding day. We also used the same knives that her parents used to cut the cake at their wedding.
What is the best thing you’ve learned from one another?
Jimmy learned from Hannah to move with purpose—especially in an airport setting, which is not his strong suit. Hannah learned from Jimmy to be more present and to enjoy the little moments.
What is your favorite thing about each other?
Hannah’s favorite thing about Jimmy is how well he expresses his love for her and for his tremendous support. Jimmy’s favorite thing about Hannah is how well she receives his love, her devotion, and her intentionality—she’s also incredibly smart, hardworking, and thoughtful (she always picks out the most thoughtful gifts for others on special occasions).
What was your favorite part about planning your wedding?
For Jimmy, it was definitely tasting and picking out the food! Hannah’s favorite part of planning was assembling our invitations—we put a stamped wax seal on each one and listened to our playlist of potential first dance songs over Hannah’s family’s kitchen table.
What is the most honest thing you can say about love?
Love is more than a feeling—it’s also a choice to love your person even when that’s not always the easiest thing to do. Love first and then everything will take care of itself.
