We love a good dance-inspired session, and this beautiful bridal + wedding inspiration from photographer Ashley Watters is giving us all the smiles this morning! from the photographer, Ashley Watters – “I reached out to my sweet co-worker and bride-to-be, Katherine, about making her bridal session also a styled session. She, of course, said yes! This session was the absolute best because styled sessions with models can be off-putting to actual brides-to-be. Katherine has never modeled before and I think that’s the coolest part, you don’t have to be a model to be stunningly gorgeous!Giselle is a ballet about a young girl dying from heartbreak and in the afterlife she meets these girls who are called wilis. Wilis are beautiful bridal ghosts who had been either scorned by their lovers or had some such tragedy happen to them, and they lure men to their deaths. That being said, (yikes, right? Ballet is not for the lighthearted!) I wanted to take a different approach to that iconic ballet with bridal beauty. Katherine embodies what would have happened if Giselle had been able to marry her lover. Giselle is set in Europe and there is nowhere more romantic than Paris the city of love so the invitation suite reflects that!The colors used throughout the bouquet and tablescape evoke feelings of warmth and love instead of the cool tones that perpetuate the actual Giselle ballet. We wanted to subtly hint at ballet pink, but with a summery twist.The date of the shoot also coincided with Katherine’s birthday so I actually surprised her with the cake! It added a perfect touch of feminine balletic beauty with the ruffles going down the side!”
