from the photographer: “During winter and early spring in Idaho, it’s too cold for most people to want to shoot outdoors – but most also don’t realize how wonderful it can be to shoot in their own homes instead! I had a vision for an indoor session that bottled up all the cozy feelings of this slow, chilly season, but that still felt elevated and put together. I was so excited that this family was on board with my vision and trusted my styling direction, and I love the rich, calming tones and low light.
I actually recorded footage of this session for a course I released this spring, and it was a perfect one to share with my students – not because everything went perfectly, but because nothing went as planned! Children are so unpredictable, and often surprise even their parents with how they react at a session. That was the case here as well! It doesn’t bother me in the slightest when I need to roll with whatever kids decide to give me, because the unexpected is also what adds life and spice to a gallery. I love being able to deliver a gallery that parents adore, even though they would have sworn during the session that it was chaos. It’s all part of the beauty and adventure of parenting, and I truly believe it is an incredible privilege to document all of the wonderful wildness of family.”
