We love relaxed at-home sessions like this. Even more so when they document important moments of a couples lives, like anniversaries! I think it challenges us to realize that not every moment in life is a glammed up affair, but capturing moments like this take us back to that time in our lives and lets us relive a moment that has meaning in our family history. Radian Photography captured a moment like this for Thomas & Amy for their anniversary below!
from the couple: “It is so important to us to document our family and our lives. We make a commitment to take family pictures twice a year—around our son’s birthday and just before Christmas—and we love every session we’ve done as our little family of three. But at the core of our family is our marriage, and it is so easy for us to forget that, as we put our son first. So we wanted to do an anniversary session with just the two of us. It gave us the opportunity to get dressed up for each other, to spend time together, and to capture this season of our relationship. We are grateful for our friends and amazing photographers, Radhika and Ian, who challenged us to write love letters to each other, which we read during the session. These moments when we slow down and connect are so important but often too infrequent.
Our advice to other couples is to make the decision every day to do what it takes to make your relationship work. Sometimes that means choosing to do things for your partner that you really don’t want to do—just because it shows love and offers support. Other days that means staying up an extra ten minutes to be able to talk to each other with no distractions. Or it might mean having a really big fight that lasts for days and seems to have no resolution, but choosing to come back to each other and to the argument, diving in, and wading through it together. Every day is different. A relationship’s needs ebb and flow, but if you decide to make it work, it will.”
