Minimalist Anniversary Session Graced in Simple Love: Matt & Victoria

Minimalist Anniversary Session

Today’s social media has a way of convincing us that we need things we simply don’t. We want more, we want bigger, we want better, and more still we find ourselves housing the quietest bitterness for the things we have that don’t measure up to the fantasy. We see perfectly curated windows into the lives of others, and suddenly we want other. Love, sadly, is one of its greatest victims. Facebook, cinema, Instagram — we are inundated with loves that never fail, loves that never fight, or else loves that fly you off on a private jet to casually grab dinner in Paris. But those loves are the forced smiles of existence: they look happy… but they lack humanity.

Simple love. It lies at the heart of it all — not some utopian fairytale or the orchestral swell of a cinematic romance — I’m talking about the kind of love that you look at from across the room and realize they were already looking back. I’m talking about the love that knows your fifteen-part coffee order, the one that gets up at the crack of dawn to provide for you, the one that drives your lunch across town because you forgot it at home, the one that meets your mess. That’s the kind of love that never quits; that’s the kind of love that makes it — and it lives, perfectly conspicuous, in the moment your smiling eyes meet.

A word from photographer, Jenna Powers:

“There’s something so sweet about the love Victoria & Matt share. You can see it in their glances, feel it in their expressions and hear it in their laughter. I believe this sweetness comes from loving someone for such a notable portion of your life. Growing up together and loving each other through the messiness of it. It’s truly a beautiful thing.”
