If you’ve been following us this week, you’ll have noticed we’re up to our eyeballs in birthday celebrations — The White Wren turned ONE! We felt that one day was just not enough to thoroughly celebrate this milestone, so we decided to throw in another: our first White Wren editorial! It has always been a wish of ours to produce original content, but more than that we want to use these opportunities to give back to our White Wren Collaborative community and champion some of the hearts that have so beautifully championed us. And, when the team gathered together to discuss the content and contributors to our editorial, our hearts settled on one name: Kenzie Packrall.
The White Wren was always meant as a restful place to showcase love and all its raw, unhewn complexities, and with time we’ve cultivated an especial love for anniversary sessions. So, in the midst of our own anniversary we dreamt up a sentiment: a vow renewal. Two souls, one love, built in the sweetest blisses and toughest schemes that married life can throw your way and hammered out into a perfectly imperfect, truly human union the heart cannot ignore. And Kenzie, for all her sweetness, made beautiful work of bringing it to life!
Set in the lovingly intimate house and grounds of The Orlo in Tampa, Florida, this quiet narrative unfolds between a wife and her twice-over groom! The quaint spaces and timeless structure give way to details from Treasury Rentals and Emily Grace Design for a colorful and timeless feel. FH Events adorn table, arch, and couple alike with blooming florals for a bright, organic touch while Ashley Moody of Love Lee Lane serves as a gentle eye to cultivate the vision. Kenzie sought to enrich her inspiration with more familiar Collaborative faces: a characteristically stunning illustrated suite by Sarah Ann Design and a delicate robe of Girl and a Serious Dream proportions. We find our bride and her sweet groom tucked in the cozy corners of The Orlo house, readying each other for their nuptials ahead in a gentle dance of familiarity. As he helps her into her White Magnolia pieces, the groom steals a kiss to her cheek, her shoulder in a simple gesture of complete intimacy. They wander the grounds of their wedded bliss to exchange vows for the second time: ever wiser, ever more lovely. Then retreating indoors, they gather with their love and loved ones alike to celebrate amongst a Salt Block feast and sweetest cake by Hands On Sweets, and dine the night away in blessed company. It’s a picture of marriage that time renders ever sweeter, a lived-in love that calls another its home.
A word from Kenzie Packrall:
“The inspiration behind the shoot was focusing on the intimacy of marriage and celebrating that fact. That is why I wanted to tell the whole story of a vow renewal — from getting ready together to a gathering with friends. On a traditional wedding day the bride and groom don’t get ready together, and sometimes don’t see each other until the ceremony. Weddings are a beautiful thing because they signify new love and the beginning of building a life together. A vow renewal has so much more depth to it, because you’re celebrating all the ups and downs you’ve had together and that no matter what, they are still your person. Our models Danette and Adam have been married for 18 years. It was such an honor capturing each moment with them and knowing that the love that has grown between them through the years was forever captured in these images.”
