Otherworldly and dreamy! Thats how we would describe this absolutely lush floral bridal inspiration set on the shores of Lake Geneva.
Vevey, a small town on the shore of Lake Geneva, much like the swans that frolic on its eponymous Alpine lake, is a rare bird. Sleek, cosmopolitan and unparalleled in elegance, the Salle del Castillo built in 1904 and newly renovated is firmly anchored both in the past and present has so much charisma that it instantly brought to life our vision for this shoot.
We choose the Salon Clara Haskil to set the dining table. Clara- a renowned Romanian pianist who moved to Vevey at the peak of her career- inspired us through the way she is described as an artist. “As a pianist, her playing was marked by a purity of tone and phrasing that may have come from her skill as a violinist. Transparency and sensitive inspiration were other hallmarks of her style”. She represents today’s women with her strength, passion and success. Although not from any Romanian descendent, Celia – our model – was the prefect representation of the strong yet vulnerable, modern yet romantic woman we truly wanted to feature for this urban and dreamy shoot.
“A flower lasts not long but the joy it gives for just a minute is one of those things that has neither beginning nor end” said Paul Claudel. For this reason, Claire, the floral designer from Atelier Rose Jasmin, created an amazing floral arch leading to the majestic staircase. Mixing spring cherry blossom, timeless roses and sumptuous coral buttercups, she graciously brought together a mixture of soft and vibrant colours onto the perfectly white space of the venue. Adding some touches of yellow to bring the sunshine indoors, the floral design of the table was thoughtfully designed to inspire the modern bride and groom.
Jessica from The Bridge and Taylor created a sophisticated and romantic suite to match the thoughtful floral design. Mixing watercolour, handmade paper and calligraphy she beautifully brought elegance and refinement to the final touches of the table.
The stunning cake replicating flower leaves was the cherry on the top! Tulay from Cake J’adore created each petal out of sugar using her trademark refinement . We knew that she would design something magical. We definitely fell in love with her gorgeous over-the-top cake design.
With this romantic and modern photoshoot, we also wanted to showcase some of our favourite artists and suppliers that are based right here in Switzerland, such as the linen and the neutral table wear from Options and the hand-dye table runner and silk ribbons made by Caroline from Wildfarb.
Last but not least: the dresses. We went all in with the lavish ceremony dress from Riki Dalal “Alex”. Its puffy sleeves accentuate the slim figure in contrast to the ball gown skirt and the floral fabric add a delicate detail to this dramatic and bold bridal gown.
The second look “Louise” from the second collection of the newest Swiss bridal gown designer Calla Lilies gives us butterflies in our stomach! This off-the-shoulder draped satin silk mini-dress is a work of art. It’s draped bustier and small sleeves make it ultra-glamorous. But what makes it a showstopper is its statement bow at the back extending into a train.
Charles Dickens described perfectly the day we did this shoot with this gracious quote: “It was one of those March days when the sun shines hot and the wind blows cold, when it is summer in the light and winter in the shade”. Teaming up with Franklyn was such a blessing. His treatment of light and colours gave the photos of this special day an utmost gorgeous result. – Weddings by Loukia
