Romantic Midwest Wedding Inspiration

Today we are sharing a truly stunning and romantic midwest wedding inspiration. Artistic as well as classic this editorial was inspired by intimate gatherings with custom designs & details. The location itself held a historic feel supporting the look of the shoot & adding a warm, inviting essence. A color palette being a beautiful mixture of grays, black, ivory & white created a timeless look that will forever captivate & project elegance, simple yet stunning!

Welcome to the Midwest! Nestled in the hustle and bustle of Kansas City there is the Oakwood Country Club. It is the oldest country club in Kansas City and has been newly updated and refreshed to accommodate elevated weddings and celebrations. This delicate micro inspiration was meant to honor couples looking for a romantic and intimate gathering with classic touches. Tables and ceremony sites were embellished with wispy, buttery florals by Victorian Gardens and old world architecture offering an intimate affair. The Oakwood Country Club is all around filled with historic, elegant detail that is warm and inviting. Our color palette combines cool dove grey tones, black with warm, classic ivory fabrics and buttery yellow and white florals. Morgan Riley Design combined all of these colors and created custom menus featuring dainty daffodil illustrations and calligraphy, as well as a custom invitation suite featuring embossed flowers on handmade paper. Artistically designed name scrolls accompany dove grey paper fans for guest gifts. Finally, inspired by our model, Ananya (who is a local boba tea business owner), we added the personal touches of a uniquely crafted sign for the boba tea station.

Kansas City is full of creatives that are ready to serve any couple. Houndstooth provided our groom, Reece, with a classic, black handcrafted suit and bowtie. Through the boutique, The Gown Gallery, a custom dress by Potapenko & Yanchenko was provided for our bride for her ceremony look. More dresses were provided for both a getting ready feel by Proenza Schouley and a reception feel by Catherine Deane. A classic, minimal hair and makeup style was expertly done by Bronzed and Blushed. Table designs and ceremony designs featured rentals from Ultra Pom and Good Stuff China. EB & Co. with their modern and unique jewelry. Dolce Bakery supplied a clean white cake with fresh florals to top off our elegant scene. Using a combination of both digital and film images, wedding photographer, Jenny Shipley, was even able to include her husband, David, as a wedding officiant to provide a full scale feel of a ceremony at Oakwood. We hope you enjoy a look into an intimate, joyful celebration in the midwest! – Jenny Shipley Photographer
