Liam knew he wanted his proposal to Kat to feel intimate and personal – but he also had something much bigger waiting just around the corner.
After months of planning, Liam chose Hampton Park in Charleston as the setting for the first surprise. With its winding pathways, romantic gardens, and canopy of mature oak trees, the park offered a quiet pocket of the city where the two could seemingly spend an ordinary afternoon together. Kat had no idea that their casual outing was anything but casual.
As they wandered through the park, Liam led Kat toward a quiet spot beneath the trees near the gazebo. Then, in a moment she never saw coming, he dropped to one knee.
Shock quickly gave way to happy tears, laughter, and an emphatic yes. Photographer Nichole Lauren was there to preserve it all – including those wonderfully unguarded first moments when Kat began realizing exactly what Liam had planned.
With the question officially answered, the newly engaged couple explored Hampton Park together before popping a bottle of Veuve Clicquot and raising a glass to their new title: fiancés.
But Liam wasn’t finished.
From the quiet gardens of Hampton Park, he brought Kat into downtown Charleston for what would become surprise number two. Waiting on the rooftop above King Street were their closest friends and family, ready to celebrate the engagement Kat had only just begun processing.
Suddenly, an intimate proposal for two became a party filled with champagne, embraces, laughter, and another round of happy tears. Against the Charleston skyline, the people closest to Kat and Liam had been part of Liam’s plan all along.
It made for the best of both worlds – a private moment beneath the Charleston oaks followed by a rooftop full of everyone they loved. More than an engagement session, it was an entire afternoon thoughtfully designed around the beginning of their next chapter.

The Proposal
When Liam began planning his proposal to Kat, he knew he wanted to create an experience that felt personal and meaningful. After months of anticipation and careful planning, Charleston’s iconic Hampton Park became the setting for the moment.
Liam led Kat through the park under the guise of a casual outing before guiding her to a quiet spot beneath the trees and in front of the gazebo. Completely unaware of what was about to happen, Kat was caught off guard when Liam dropped to one knee.
Her immediate reaction was a mix of shock, happy tears, laughter, and overwhelming joy as she said yes to forever.
Afterward, Liam had a bottle of Veuve Clicquot waiting, and the newly engaged couple toasted before heading into downtown Charleston.
There, another surprise awaited.
Their closest friends and family had gathered on the rooftop to celebrate, turning the second half of their engagement day into a joyful party overlooking the city.
