Not all weddings are alike, yet many brides- and grooms-to-be fall into a pattern of expectation for their nuptials: long veils, June ceremonies, traditional vows, and evening receptions with 200 of your nearest and dearest! While all of these are beautiful and packed with an elegance of their own, nothing in weddings is one-size-fits-all because couples simply aren’t either. The wedding day is an expression of love, with and beyond tradition—it’s the celebration of a unique relationship between two equally unique souls, and to compromise it’s true expression for the sake of “that’s what you do” seems a tremendous disservice. A wedding should give face and form to an intangible connection between soulmates, as individual and parsed-together as its creators. From its styling, to its heart, to the time of day it’s held, it should be nothing less than a celebration tailor-made for the love it honors.

Today’s inspiration is for the bride who is willing to forego a little tradition, without compromising timelessness: an against-the-grain brunch elopement dripping with Southern charm—and it’s all been captured by our White Wren Collaborative member, Danielle Hutchinson

A word from photographer, Danielle Hutchinson:

“We approached this inspiration shoot with the idea of a simple southern brunch elopement. We wanted an emphasis on slowing down and focusing on the intimate moments between a couple as they enter the next phase of their lives together. The Burgwin Wright House and gardens are nestled in the heart of downtown Wilmington, North Carolina yet feel miles away from anything. There are rows of flower and tree-lined gravel pathways that lend to that old Southern charm. Blue is a recurring color throughout the shoot. Appearing in the dishes, ribbon and invitations, it’s a nod to the tradition of having something blue, merging a time honored tradition with a modern elopement twist.”
