Today we are sharing a charming alfresco backyard wedding. Nicole & Jose faced the obstacle of an unexpected venue change, in turn created new challenges which they & their vendor team handled beautifully! Weddings at private residences have been some of the most lovely celebrations in recent times, bringing a quaintness that is relatable & wonderful to see mixed into the wedding world!
A simple and understated style for Nicole and Jose’s wedding allowed for some amazing and intentional guest experiences to soar at their family-centric backyard wedding. From musical talents to staged performances and heartfelt toasts, you could find guests both wiping tears of joy from their eyes and trying not to tip over their chair from laughing so hard!
Nicole and Jose wanted to be able to celebrate the beginning of their marriage with both beauty and whimsy that was grounded in their familial roots. “We always imagined being married outside or having a backyard feel. It just reminds us of having a family party, getting together for a special event” Nicole shared. Equal parts classic and alfresco.
For the couples that are a little bit timeless while still getting to have the comforts of family traditions. The biggest challenge Nicole and Jose faced when planning their wedding was an unexpected venue change. After planning for months, with their family’s support, they decided to pivot to a wedding celebration at a private residence. This change presented some new obstacles, including adding in outdoor lighting, a kitchen build-out, and creating a safe, comfortable, and celebratory space for the guest experience. Truly it was a team effort, with every vendor bringing their A-game to the celebration.
Guests were welcomed down the paved driveway to where the ceremony took place on the raised front lawn. Underneath the shade of a sprawling tree, Jose and Nicole shared their vows and promised to love one another for all time. Lush greenery and beautiful white blooms completely transformed the space from the front yard to an opulent garden that left guests “oohing” and “aahing”. After the ceremony, guests enjoyed appetizers and crudites on the grassy lawn in the backyard. With florals and candles floating in the lap pool, the cocktail hour felt high society without losing the family-friendly vibe. The reception took place on the west side of the front yard lawn next to the tennis court, which was transformed into the dance floor. We carefully utilized the spaces available so the guests were able to have a seamless experience, without needing to flip and transform any space while guests were on site.
