from the photographer: “I want to honor and shed light on the transition for parents and siblings when welcoming a new baby. Although our hearts grow in ways we never imagined when we welcome our second child, our hands and time have now been divided. With each physical birth, we as mothers are reborn again, too. As we navigate this new chapter of parenthood, we are growing and learning from each of our little ones in turn. As a mother of two children, I am grateful for this reminder at each session I document.
Katie is a talented floral designer here in Richmond, VA. Her keen eye for style and design, coupled with her tender mama heart made this such a sweet newborn session. The window seat in their home made the perfect spot for all of mama’s babies (fur baby included) to get some special attention. I admired Katie’s grace under pressure when navigating the needs of her daughter, Blair and her newborn son, Ward. Her and husband, Allen, spoke so gently and tenderly to Blair as she worked through the feelings that come along with welcoming a new sibling. I am not far removed from that season of motherhood myself. Some days I still have to traverse those waters with my eldest daughter. It is always my goal and ultimate joy to document families where they’re at and to capture the genuine love and connection they share.”
