A Warm Redwood-Inspired Celebration: Madelin & Kyle’s Orlando Wedding

Some celebrations feel like gathering around a long, candlelit table—intimate, warm, alive with friendship and laughter. Madelin and Kyle’s wedding was exactly that. Though set in Orlando, their vision was “a warm dinner party in the redwoods,” and every detail echoed the soulful atmosphere of their engagement in Northern California.

The couple’s vibrant spirit radiated throughout the day—joyful, deeply connected, and effortlessly present with those they love most. Their wedding was built on intention: meaningful time with guests, space to breathe, freedom from rigid timelines, and a design aesthetic that blended timeless elegance with creative, modern touches. The result was a celebration that felt both heartfelt and wildly fun, a perfect portrait of who they are and the community that surrounds them.

From bustling conversations to a full dance floor, from family-made favors to portraits that feel alive with movement and emotion, this celebration is a beautiful reminder that weddings are at their best when they feel like you. Madelin and Kyle embraced that wholeheartedly—and it shines through in every image.

“We wanted our wedding to feel like a warm dinner party in the redwoods—time with each other, and with the people we love most.”

How did you two meet? What were your first impressions of one another?

We met on the dating app Hinge. Even through pictures, Kyle thought that Madelin was way out of his league (and still does). Madelin was drawn to Kyle’s smile, obvious sense of adventure and love for travel. For good measure, Kyle made sure to include pictures of his dog in his pictures—and to his credit, it worked. Our first date was casual drinks at Tori Tori, which was quickly followed by a second date 2 days later—after which, Kyle deleted the dating app (he was smitten).

Any special ways you incorporated your family or family history into your wedding day?

We had Kyle’s brother Corey officiate our wedding! Kyle and Corey have always been close and Corey, his wife Nikki, and the two of us have gotten to spend a lot of time together over the past few years. Madelin’s mom (a former baker) couldn’t pass up the opportunity to whip up 200 cookies as wedding favors. Madelin’s Aunt Barbara keeps bees in Ireland and shipped 100 jars of honey as wedding favors. We also had our dog Guinness on our cocktail napkins—he was 16 years old and a fan-favorite among Kyle’s college friends. It was really fun to have those little personal touches that made our day unique to us.

What part of your wedding day was/is most important to you?

Being able to do our wedding our way. We didn’t do much of the “traditional” wedding formalities, which gave us ample time to take pictures, spend real time with our guests, eat, dance, and drink. We’ve all heard stories from friends and family about how fast your wedding day goes, often keeping the guests of honor from truly enjoying it. We didn’t feel that at all! We had plenty of food, drinks, and laughter.

What was your favorite part about planning your wedding?

Planning it together, honestly. And all the little ways we made it our own. We got engaged in Redwoods National Park in January 2024, which really inspired the aesthetics of our wedding. It was really wonderful to think of that moment throughout our planning process.

If you had one piece of advice for other couples, what would it be?

Make time for each other, make time for yourself. Life is busy, and priorities are always shifting and things come up. We try to take a walk together every morning before work to ensure that we get just 20 minutes with each other before our day begins. We aim to have at least one date night per month and dress up for a nice restaurant. Also, make time for yourself and your friends—maintaining those outside relationships gives space to miss each other and return refreshed.
