There are places that become part of a wedding story, and then there are places that inspire the entire celebration.
For Lexi and Matthew, San Miguel de Allende wasn’t simply the location of their wedding weekend—it became the heartbeat of every design decision, every gathering, and every meaningful moment shared with family and friends. Drawing inspiration from the city’s rich colors, romantic architecture, handcrafted artistry, and vibrant culture, the couple created a wedding that felt deeply connected to its surroundings while remaining unmistakably personal.
From a lively Callejoneada through the streets of San Miguel to a reception filled with bougainvillea, talavera-inspired details, glass-blown keepsakes, and fireworks illuminating the night sky, every moment celebrated not only their love story but also the people and traditions that shaped it.
“We wanted the wedding to feel true to San Miguel—in the colors, textures, elegance, and romance.”
Design Inspiration
“We really wanted the wedding to feel true to San Miguel. In the colors, textures, and elegance. We wanted a romantic Mexican feel because it spoke to our story.”
Inspired by the terracotta tones, talavera tiles, bougainvillea, wood textures, and natural beauty of San Miguel de Allende, the design embraced a vibrant palette of fuchsia, blush, marigold, orange, blue, and soft green.
The ceremony featured elegant calla lilies lining the aisle in tall glass vessels, creating a timeless and romantic atmosphere inside the historic church. At the reception, colorful florals overflowed from clay vessels while rattan chargers, woven lighting, talavera-inspired accents, and glass-blown hearts handcrafted in San Miguel transformed the celebration into an immersive experience of color and culture.

Proposal Story
After meeting during a chance encounter in the hallway of their apartment complex before COVID—and after Matthew’s memorable attempt to get Lexi’s attention by leaving a gift card on her windshield—their relationship grew through years of long-distance dating.
After nearly four years together, Matthew knew he wanted to propose with family nearby, as family had always been one of the most important parts of their relationship.
While visiting San Antonio for family events surrounding Lexi’s younger brother’s senior year, Lexi believed they were simply taking family portraits. Instead, Matthew had secretly coordinated with her family and arranged for her to walk down toward the pool where he was waiting to ask her to marry him.
After she said yes, both families spent the afternoon celebrating together.

Wedding Gown
Lexi knew she wanted something timeless.
“I always loved jacquard print styles more than lace or clean gowns. There was a timeless elegance about it that felt perfect for a cathedral wedding.”
Purchased from a trunk show, her gown was one of the only dresses produced in that particular design. She completed her bridal look with blue Jimmy Choo shoes, her grandmother’s earrings, and a treasured bee brooch from her other grandmother attached to her bouquet.
Matthew honored his own grandmother by wearing one of her earrings pinned discreetly inside his tuxedo jacket.

Food & Drink
The wedding weekend began with a traditional Mexican welcome dinner featuring chicken mole, esquites, fideo, chile rellenos, churros, and colorful cocktails that introduced guests to the flavors of Mexico.
For the wedding reception, the menu embraced the formality of the black-tie celebration with fresh rolls, seasonal salad, beef filet with potatoes and broccolini, or salmon served alongside mushroom parmesan risotto.
Dessert featured cajeta and mamey cheesecake, while guests enjoyed signature cocktails including a spicy cucumber margarita, a blackberry bourbon smash, and espresso martinis in honor of National Espresso Martini Day.

Special Memories
One of the most memorable moments of the evening came during cake cutting.
As the band played “Everlasting Love,” fireworks unexpectedly lit up the night sky. Guests rushed to the dance floor while Lexi and Matthew shared their first bite of cake before bringing pieces into the crowd to share with friends and family.
The reception quickly transformed into a true fiesta.
Following an outfit change, Lexi and Matthew danced on stage together, crowd surfed, were lifted by friends, jumped rope on the dance floor, and celebrated until the very last song.
“We are big on friends, family, and moments. It felt like us to include everyone.”
