A Sentimental Saint Simons Wedding Filled With Baby’s Breath, Hand-Drawn Details, and Joyful Celebration

Madi and Dylan’s Saint Simons Island wedding weekend was the perfect reflection of who they are as a couple—intentional, relaxed, and full of fun. The celebration began with an intimate rehearsal dinner at a favorite local pizzeria before guests gathered the following day for a ceremony framed by an ethereal aisle of baby’s breath that seemed to float across the coastal landscape.

Throughout the day, hand-drawn details added personality and charm, while Madi’s vintage gown brought a timeless, heirloom-inspired elegance to her bridal look. At the reception, guests were welcomed with DIY tambourines at their seats, setting the tone for a dance floor filled with laughter, movement, and celebration. Every element felt deeply personal, creating a wedding that was not only beautiful, but unmistakably theirs.

“At the end of the day, you’re marrying your best friend.”

How did you two meet? What were your first impressions of one another?

We met at work. Dylan had been working there for a few years when I started in the summer of 2022. During my first day, I was introduced to everyone in the office and immediately told people how cute I thought Dylan was.

Dylan says he thought I was confident and intimidating. It took about a year before we finally went on our first date!

Tell us a funny story relating to your wedding day or relationship!

When I first started at the company, I noticed Dylan had a lot of tattoos. I had a few tattoos on my hand and arm, so any chance I got, I would strategically put my tattooed arm right in front of his face so he would notice them and hopefully like me.

For some reason, I was completely convinced that if he saw my tattoos, he would immediately fall in love.

Describe a hurdle you had to overcome in your relationship or during your wedding planning.

We decided not to hire a wedding planner, which definitely made things stressful at times.

Thankfully, our families stepped in and helped so much throughout the process. We ended up doing a lot ourselves, and while it wasn’t always easy, it made the wedding feel as “us” as it possibly could.

Any special ways you incorporated your family or family history into your wedding day?

Dylan’s father passed away when he was young.

To honor him, Dylan wore a locket inside his tuxedo that contained a photograph of his dad so he could be with him throughout the entire day.

What part of your wedding day was most important to you?

We wrote our own vows and chose to share them during the ceremony in front of all our family and friends.

Being able to express exactly how we felt about one another and share those emotions with the people we love most made the ceremony incredibly special.

What is the best thing you’ve learned from one another?

Dylan says he’s learned how to be more empathetic and how to see things from other people’s perspectives.

The greatest thing I’ve learned from Dylan is that I’m stronger than I sometimes believe and that I can accomplish anything I put my mind to.

What is your favorite thing about each other?

Dylan’s favorite thing about me is my sense of humor.

My favorite thing about him is how calm and safe he makes me feel. He’s also funny—but not quite as funny as me.

What was your favorite part about planning your wedding?

Dylan’s favorite part was planning our honeymoon and designing his custom tuxedo. He had so much fun choosing all the details.

My favorite part was creating a day that truly felt like us. I worked really hard not to focus on trends or outside expectations and instead create something simple, meaningful, and authentic to our relationship.

If you had one piece of advice for other couples, what would it be?

Keep it simple and don’t stress about the small things.

Enjoy every moment because the day goes by incredibly fast. At the end of the day, you’re marrying your best friend, and nobody else knows if something doesn’t happen exactly the way you originally planned.

What is the most honest thing you can say about love?

It’s supposed to be fun and it should make your life better.

Like anything worthwhile, there will be difficult days and opportunities to grow together, but overall, love should feel exciting and life-giving.

We have fun together no matter what we’re doing, and it’s a feeling I hope everyone gets to experience.
