On a peaceful morning in Northern Italy, Francesco and Matilda embraced the stillness of the lake. The soft, golden light wrapped gently around them, creating the perfect backdrop for an engagement session that felt both intimate and timeless.
Photographer Monica Schettino let their love unfold naturally—without poses, without distractions—capturing their laughter, quiet embraces, and tender glances. From playful moments on the dock to the couple floating together in the water, every image reflects a love that doesn’t need to be loud to be powerful.
Their connection is honest and deep, the kind that speaks in glances and lingers in silence. This session is a reminder that sometimes the most meaningful love stories are written in the quietest of moments.

“Their love is quiet and deep — the kind that speaks in glances and lives in the quietest moments.”

How did you two meet? What were your first impressions of one another?
We met while both working at The Eagle pub in Shepherds Bush. Matilda liked Fra’s laugh, and Fra liked Matilda’s smile.
Tell us a funny story relating to your wedding day or relationship!
On our wedding night, when we returned to our honeymoon suite, we found a bat there! We had to open all the windows and doors and wait for it to leave. The bat will now be the symbol of our marriage!

Describe a hurdle you had to overcome in your relationship or during your wedding planning.
Long distance! We met in London in 2016, but we were very young and both had plans to travel. After only a year together, Fra moved to Melbourne and Matilda moved to Edinburgh. We met in the middle in Japan for a two-week trip! Then Matilda moved back to London to start law school, and Fra attended film school in Turin. We never set a fixed plan to stay together and do long distance but, somehow, we never wanted to part.
Any special ways you incorporated your family or family history into your wedding day?
Matilda had a trinket from each of her grandmothers and each of Fra’s grandmothers with her on the day.

What part of your wedding day was/is most important to you?
Firstly, the ceremony. It was beautifully personal—written and performed by our two sisters, in two languages! Matilda’s father and Fra’s mother read poems, which set the tone of warmth and genuineness for the whole day.
Secondly, the joining of families and the blending of cultures. It was so funny to see Matilda’s Scottish family in kilts under the blazing Italian sun!
What is the best thing you’ve learned from one another?
Matilda: I’ve learned from Fra to never have a cappuccino after lunch, how to cook the best pasta, and to always be silly and have a laugh.
Fra: Not to be afraid to speak your mind and the importance of fashion.

What is your favorite thing about each other?
Fra: That she’s caring about people.
Matilda: His moral compass and how funny he is.
What was your favorite part about planning your wedding?
The spreadsheets. And finding the venue—it was beyond our dreams, and after that everything just fell into place.

If you had one piece of advice for other couples, what would it be?
The planning process can be stressful, but set yourself a deadline to stop stressing. The week before, we just let go and agreed not to be upset no matter what happened—and it really worked! Remember, it’s your day, not the guests’.
What is the most honest thing you can say about love?
It takes constant cooperation and compromise, but it’s really the best thing you can have in life.
