Victorian Garden Wedding Inspiration

Victorian Garden Wedding Inspiration

Beautiful, rich contrasts and pops of color among shadows illustrate the color palette for this shoot with a very Victorian and painterly feel! We love how the details came together to create this color story that really reflects a wedding day filled with story!

from the designer: “We’re completely carried away with this whimsical, garden wedding inspiration imagined by Lizz, of Lizzy Events, and Julie, of Pipervine Photography. They put their heads together to create a shoot that would showcase each vendor’s best work. What emerged was an elysian dream sequence headlined by whimsy and fine art.

A new, hip, gin-inspired bar and restaurant in the ADORABLE Forest Park neighborhood of Birmingham, AL – Juniper provided the perfect whimsical garden setting for the pretend nuptials of our sweet couple. The building dates back to the early 1900’s and has been updated with a few modern touches, but houses Birmingham’s most iconic Victorian gallery wall. This venue is the perfect intimate setting to be attended by close friends and family.

Our bride and groom, Andrela and William, have been together for many years and moved to the Birmingham, AL area from Brazil. They were married in 2019 in the states, but were not able to plan a traditional wedding due to their family being so far away. This styled shoot was the perfect opportunity for the couple to reimagine their wedding day and gain keepsake photos that they can savor forever.

Our photographer, Julie Sumerel of Pipervine, aimed to emulate a perfect wedding day where the couple is comfortable and displaying their love story. Her eye for “the moment” and cues to the couple make for an album any couple would dream of. Julie envisioned the day to be shot in both film and digital to capture all fine art qualities in the best way.

The gorgeous and ornate butterfly lace gown was provided by Bustle, a boutique wedding dress shop in Birmingham, AL that carries only sample gowns. When planner, Lizz Bragg, engaged the Bustle gals about the shoot, its venue, and the corresponding mood board, they knew just which gown to select!

Lizz approached Katie Legg of Poiema Events to design florals for this garden affair. Katie selected seasonal, jewel-toned blooms like zinnias, dahlias, and cosmos and accented with other whimsical stems to create a lush, showstopping ceremony aisle, bridal bouquet and centerpiece for our tablescape. Her designs make a maximalist’s heart flutter and pull from the words of our girl Dolly Parton “I could do less, but I like more!”
Inspiration for our bride came from the recent portraits of everyone’s favorite gal, Catherine the Duchess of Cambridge. A round of applause for the romantic and soft bridal look by Alex Smith, editorial hair and makeup artist.

Amanda Hinton of A.Joy Cakes captured the themed of the whole day in one beautiful, ethereal cake.

Invitation suite by Lauren Yvonne Designs was perfectly styled and accented by our photographer, Julie Sumerel of Pipervine.

Capturing each moment behind her camera, Kayla of Kayla Jackson Films was honing each interaction of our couple and creating a beautiful memory of the day. Her talented eye in today’s most sought-after medium, video, was a true asset to the shoot and to any couple she works with.

The tablescape, designed and arranged by Lizz Bragg of Lizzy Events, featured a beautiful geometric, textured linen by BBJ La Tavola. The vintage china was provided by Event Works of Birmingham and Estelle colored glassware provided by A’Mano Gifts of Mountain Brook. The William Morris Pimpernel napkins, Lizz’s own, add the perfect amount of secret-garden-esc quality to the place setting. Finally, papergoods by Birmingham’s Amber Rosenberg of Amber R. Calligraphy infused old-world charm and elevated our guest’s impressions when they arrive to their chair.”
