Sunset Sailboat Engagement Session

Sunset Sailboat Engagement Session

A stunning mixture of land & sea to inspire you today with this sunset sailboat engagement session that starts at a vineyard & ends on a sailboat! Being surrounded by calm beautiful water created a magnificent scene that was captured so wonderfully on film.

How did you meet? So Brandy and I (Drew) actually met through the dating app Bumble. I was living and working in Lansing at the time, while she was finishing up her degree at Michigan State University. We decided to go out on our first date on a Wednesday night, two days after we matched. We met for cocktails and instantly hit it off. Our conversation seemed to flow so smoothly, with each minute passing by finding more and more things that we had in common. We had originally met at 6, but before we knew it was already midnight and the bar was closing. Before parting ways, she agreed to accompany me to a concert a few nights later, and the rest is history.

Brandy and Drew are an adventurous, film loving couple that travel the world together. Drew proposed to Brandy in Paris under the twinkling lights of the Eiffel Tower! They both love to be on water so for their engagement session, it was only fitting that we took out a private sailboat to celebrate their love in their favorite place, Grand Traverse Bay in Northern Michigan. Grand Traverse Bay is nestled between two peninsulas that have helped make Northern Michigan famous for it’s wineries, food, and views. What is your proposal story? So I (Drew) had always envisioned our proposal to be a sort of grand romantic gesture. It only happens once in a lifetime so I figured I might as well go all out for it. Brandy and I had plans to go to Europe over the Summer of 2021 so I figured there would be no better opportunity than proposing overseas. Brandy had always dreamed of traveling to Paris since she was a young girl, so that made it easy in terms of picking a location. After being a nervous wreck while traveling with the engagement ring and finally landing in Paris, I picked out the day and time that it would all go down. Fast forward a few nights, and we were having a picnic full of charcuterie, cheese, and champagne on the lawn overlooking the Eiffel Tower as the sun was starting to set. Now knowing Brandy, she always loves an opportunity for the special moments to be documented. So I surprised her and said that I had hired a photographer to take photos of us so she could always remember the trip. While walking around and stopping at various locations, the photographer gave me a nod and at that point, I got on one knee, and she said yes. We spent the night celebrating and joyously contacting our loved ones to tell them the news. With such excitement and love in our hearts, I surprised her with the next two locations for our travel: Venice and the Amalfi Coast. It truly was an unforgettable experience.

Tell us about the ring/band. Drew customized my ring with a local jeweler a few months prior to our engagement. The jeweler called Drew one day and told him to come in, he might have the diamond he’s looking for. Sure enough, Drew saw the oval-cut diamond and knew it was the one. From there, he picked a dainty rose gold ban and customized a unique halo with smaller diamonds beneath. It’s truly as beautiful as it sounds as it is in person.
