There’s nothing quite like spring to thaw the frostiest of seasons, and nothing quite like this next inspiration to bring the sweetest bloom to your traditional bridal style! Our very own Maria Palermo was craving the feminine graces of one very iconic blossom when her stunning Ode to Spring began to take shape. What soon formed was an exploration of bridal fashion worthy of a heavenly floral dream! Now, as our summer days slowly close and autumn awaits on the horizon, we’ll be keeping this blissfully springtime bridal style inspiration close to our chilly little souls!
“Henry Wadsworth Longfellow inspired us to keep the shoot simple and focused on the beauty of Spring with this excerpt from his poem:
‘Came the Spring with all its splendor,
All its birds and all its blossoms,
All its flowers and leaves and grasses.’
– The Song of Hiawatha
After a seemingly un-ending winter in the Northeast, I found myself daydreaming about the blooming trees of Spring. The daydream became an escape from the cold, a love affair with the warm and unapologetic femininity of the pretty pink things to come. Thinking about the fluffy blossoms that would soon pepper our trees and brighten the landscapes, I couldn’t help but imagine a beautiful bride in the mix. I did not envision a traditional styled shoot with heaps of trending themes and items, but simply a woman celebrating the abundance and beauty of Spring —an ode to spring. Creating for the sake of art gave the shoot great meaning, honoring the beauty and fragility of nature and womanhood rather than chain trends. An all-female team of vendors was carefully chosen to bring the femme vision to life. Details were soft and feminine, textural and warm, pulling inspiration from the subtle beauty of the spring blossoms. The color palette was pulled straight from nature, representing the full spectrum of colors present on a cherry blossom, from petal pink to the marsala center of the blossom, grounded by warm neutrals in almond and bark.
Uber feminine gowns with floral motifs were hand picked to celebrate the season and inspire our feminine fine art bride. This shoot was designed to inspire a fashion forward, feminine bride by showing a variety of decadent options with a variety of price points — from the uber luxe taupe Berta gown to the unapologetically feminine but affordable pieces from Coco Melody — each gown we chose would bring grace and femininity to any celebration. Floral embellishments were woven throughout the shoot, adorning each gown in a unique way, from delicate lace to dimensional floral appliques. Floral inspired the accessories as well, with the stunning handcrafted headpieces and unique ear cuffs by Kata Banko Couture.”
