Strength is a cherished feature of existence, and marks so much of what we define as character fulfilled. Yet somehow, in the mess of it all, things like kindness or goodness or softness have been mistaken for weakness. It’s quite the opposite: softness carries with it a strength that is more than brute. It’s a quiet endurance which manifests itself in beauty and nature that can scarcely be replicated. So while battles are won by firepower, wars are won by hearts.
Lisa Catherine Photography took this to heart for her old European boudoir inspiration: grace and power in equal measure, strength masqueraded in tenderness, and the kind of gentle fortitude that wins over nations.
From Lisa Catherine Photography:
‘To be soft is to be powerful’ – Rupi Kaur
“This happens to be one of my favourite quotes, and one that, I feel, embodies this boudoir editorial photographed in a romantic roofless room reminiscent of a European villa at God’s Mountain Estate in British Columbia. Our model, Danica, is a gorgeous woman with soft features and many talents, among them, boxing. She is soft, and she is powerful.
My approach to boudoir is celebrating the quiet confidence of the woman in front of me as she takes her moment being both soft and powerful. Boudoir does not have to be for anyone but ourselves.”
