Mountain Top Surprise Proposal at Max Patch

A beautiful mountaintop surprise proposal at Max Patch Mountain with stunning views & the sweetest moments of surprise as Katie turned to see Haven on one knee. Surprise proposals always hold such a joy that is infectious as you see the happiness in the photos, you can’t help but smile & feel the over abundance of elation from that moment. Truly a wonderful thing to have photographed beautifully!

Haven knew he wanted to make proposing to Katie extremely special, but he wasn’t sure exactly how. He wanted all of the memories captured so we came up with a plan for the two of them to model a new-to-me location. We drove up 4 hours from our houses, met at the base of Max Patch Mountain, and climbed. I waited for the perfect light, while Haven was extremely patient. It went off without a hitch. How did you meet?
Haven and I met at a mutual friend’s ugly Christmas sweater party, four Christmases ago. We both showed up wearing sweaters with pugs on them. We remained friends throughout the year and started dating right before the next Christmas!

What is your proposal story?
Haven reached out to Darian, our friend and photographer, about having her capture the big moment. Together, they came up with the idea of a destination proposal at Max Patch Mountain, NC. He knows I’m a sucker for a good hike with a photoshoot! We hiked up this beautiful mountain and proceeded with a breathtaking photoshoot. Right at sunset, Darian put me into what I thought was a pose for a photo. When I turned around, Haven was on one knee and asked me to be his forever. Of course, I said yes!

Tell us about your ring and outfit choices:
My ring is a 1ct oval solitaire diamond with a white gold band. I wore a black, flowy maxi dress with a lace, bralette-like bodice from Free People.
