A sweet wedding with lots of candid moments documented so sweetly! This wedding is a little snapshot into a fun filled day for Madison & Duncan. We love the ‘real life’ feel and how ordinary elements (like the chik-fil-a) was still celebrated in a photo!
from the photographer: “Madison & Duncan were married at Pine Knoll Farms. It was a classic and timeless blue and white wedding with a big wedding party and many friends and family to celebrate them. Some things about their day were the cute moments of her and her girls getting Chick-fil-A and sharing joyous moments before they finished getting ready, the florals and beautiful details that were put into it, the venue felt like you were in a countryside with horses, her dad letting them use his old blue Chevrolet for their exit.”
How did you two meet? What were your first impressions of one another?
In 2019 Duncan jokingly told me to come help him study at the library at 1:00AM, little did he know I wasn’t joking. I showed up with a bag of jalapeño kettle cooked chips. As he studied I crunched loudly on the chips, disrupting any type of studying that might possibly be happening. About 30 minutes in he decided to give up studying and hangout with me. Unfortunately when we left he didn’t realize he threw away his notes for his test the next day. He failed the class but I’d say it was worth it. My first impression of Duncan was, “who stays at the library until 1AM on a Friday night, what a nerd.” Duncan’s first impression of me was, “who comes to the library in the middle of the night not to study”
Any special ways you incorporated your family or family history into your wedding day?
In 2016 my grandfather passed away unexpectedly. He was such a big part of my life growing up so I knew I had to honor him at our wedding in some way. I chose to have a hummingbird charm with his picture on it pinned to my bouquet. Hummingbirds were his favorite.
What part of your wedding day was/is most important to you?
The most important part of the wedding day for me was being surrounded by all of our friends beforehand. Getting that final “get ready together” just like we used to do in college. It was joyful to reminisce on all the fond memories with my friends. Eventhough I had met these friends at different points in my life, we all grew together and the friendship grew as well.
What is the best thing you’ve learned from one another?
I’ve learned from Duncan that I need to slow down and take life one step at a time. Life is not a race nor a competition. Enjoy the little things. Duncan has learned from me that patience is a virtue. Having patience and understanding is very important in a relationship. Everyone is not the same, sometimes you have to put yourself in their shoes to see what they have been through. Be kind to one another.
What was your favorite part about planning your wedding?
One of my favorite parts about planning my wedding was Rashelle our photographer. She was so sweet and invested in the process just as much as we were. When we met her for the first time it was like we had always known her. She is the kindest soul with the sweetest family and we are so thankful to have met her.
If you had one piece of advice for other couples, what would it be?
Don’t compare your relationship to others. Everyone’s relationship is different and unique in its own way. When you stop comparing yours to others that’s when you will truly be happy. You don’t need to prove to everyone else you are in a happy and loving relationship, as long as you two know that’s all the matters.
What is the most honest thing you can say about love?
Love is patient, love is kind, love might fish and watch football every weekend but that’s okay too.
