Kate & Joey had a fun filled wedding day filled with lots of meaningful details! We love all the images and the beautiful candid photos that captured the essence of what their day was like to be there!
from the photographer: Kate and Joey had TONS of personalized touches and significant details scattered through out their day.
Starting with Kate’s vintage Christian Dior gown for getting ready–Rather than get the typical matching pjs with her bridesmaids, she wanted to do something different and we made sure to carve out time for her Dior portraits.
Kate wore her late grandmother’s engagement diamond set into a custom pendant necklace(she was incredibly close to her grandmother who helped raise her), and Joey wore his late grandfather’s cufflinks. Both of their rings were also heirlooms: Kate’s belonged to her grandmother, and Joey’s belonged to his great-grandfather. The Bride’s grandfather passed away just weeks before the wedding(he was going to walk her down the aisle), so Kate made sure to have a chair honoring him and other loved ones during the ceremony with a sign.
The Bride custom-made her very own wedding day perfume scent with her bridesmaids during their bachelorette trip to Charleston at a perfume boutique called Tijon Charleston.
The couple chose to have an old-fashioned telephone guest book, where guests took turns leaving messages for the couple during cocktail hour.
One unique twist to her something borrowed was her florals. All the florals (except flatlays) were from rented from a faux floral company called Something Borrowed Blooms.
They couple had a custom wedding crest created and featured on many items over the course of the day, including cups, cake table, etc. There were personalized match boxes, napkins, cocktail stirrers, and more! They even had a clay sculpture made of their dog for their wedding cake.
Kate changed into a cute short white dress for the reception, totaling her dress number out to 3 for the day. The couple had a live painter come during the reception to paint every single guest a personal portrait for them to take home as wedding favors. Kate and Joey also hoped to be able to send every guest a photo after the wedding, we were able to accomplish that with the viral wedding sunglasses tiktok trend. We passed around a traveling pair of white heart-shaped, pearl-studded sunglasses and set out to take a photo of every single guest wearing them.
There were late night McDonalds cheeseburgers followed by a red pom pom exit in honor of the couple meeting in Athens, Georgia.
From the Bride:
Our wedding day was a dream come true, filled with love, laughter, and the people who mean the world to us. The moment we stepped into that room and saw all our closest family and friends gathered together, we felt overwhelmed with gratitude and joy. Having everyone who has been part of our story in one place is a memory Joey and I will cherish for the rest of our lives. The day was a beautiful blend of elegance and playfulness—especially when we surprised our guests with McDonald’s cheeseburgers on silver platters on the dance floor. It was a fun, lighthearted touch that brought smiles to everyone’s faces.
One of the sweetest parts of our story is how we found our first dance song. Joey and I love spending slow weekends together, catching up on favorite shows or discovering something new. During one of those cozy weekends, we were watching Songland when a song called “Something New” came on. It immediately felt like it was written for us. We looked at each other and knew, even though we weren’t engaged yet, that it would one day be played at our wedding. That moment felt like a promise, and dancing to it on our wedding day was like bringing that promise full circle.
We also filled our day with little pieces of family and love. Both of our wedding bands were family heirlooms, engraved with initials and filled with memories. My ring belonged to my grandmother, and Joey’s to his great-grandfather, adding a timeless, heartfelt connection to our vows. My grandmother’s engagement diamond was set into a pendant, which I wore close to my heart—a way to carry her spirit with me throughout the day.
One of my favorite details was a custom clay sculpture of our beloved black lab, Luna, that sat on the back of our cake. It looked just like her and felt like she was right there with us. I also had a small heart patch sewn inside my dress with mine and Joey’s initials and our wedding date. It was a tiny detail but meant so much—a hidden reminder of our love and the start of this new chapter. Each of these little touches added up to a day that felt truly like us, filled with love, laughter, and so many treasured memories.
