What were your first impressions of one another? We met 5 years ago in our friends apartment on a long weekend trip to Pensacola, Florida. My college roommate was dating one of Ben’s friends from college and we ended up in town visiting over the same weekend. We joke now about how it turned out to be an unplanned “Couples Retreat” since Ben and I hit it off and very quickly fell in love. Ben says he instantly knew he wanted to marry me and found me funny and mysterious. I remember thinking he was funny and incredibly interesting to talk to. It took me a little longer to realize I wanted to marry him- two weeks! Describe a hurdle you had to overcome in your relationship or during your wedding planning. For the year or so that we were planning the wedding, Ben was on deployment for over half of it so he missed out on a lot of the planning and fun parts such as the food/cake tasting, picking out all of the decorations/details, etc. Luckily, I had an amazing wedding planner, Hope, who was a great stand in during those months and made planning a breeze. Although I didn’t have Ben home to plan our wedding with me, being able to make a lot of the decisions on my own made it rather easy! What part of your wedding day was/is most important to you? It was very important to both of us that we wrote our own vows. It ended up being so special to hear what we wrote about one another and what promises we made to each other. There are so many things that go into a wedding but at the end of the day, it’s about the promise and commitment you are making to one another. If you had one piece of advice for other couples, what would it be? Everyone tells you how quickly your wedding day flies by, but it’s true! Before you know it, it’s the end of the night and there had been all of this build up for this big day and it’s over before you know it. Planning a wedding can be stressful, but when the day finally comes, you couldn’t care less if everything is or looks absolutely perfect. You just want to enjoy yourself with your new spouse, family and friends because those are the special memories you will hold on to. If you’re getting married, it’s a big day and try not to get caught up in the little details or road bumps that may occur during the day. Photographer: Parwa Photography
