Jenna & Frank’s Chicago Wedding

Jenna & Frank’s Chicago wedding was a beautiful celebration, despite the rain, they still had the time of their lives and took it as a sign of good luck! Their design was clean and traditional, having a color palette of dusty pink, lush greens, white and pops of gold. They chose to take their vows in their church which had captivating architecture and their reception was ballroom style with a twist, with low ambient light, warm wood tones and ceiling high stained glass windows. It was truly stunning!

How did you two meet? What were your first impressions of one another? Frank and Jenna initially met through work back in 2015. Both were attracted to one another at this time but never got involved romantically as Frank expressed Jenna got “too much attention” at work and did not want to be just another guy at the office asking her out. Jenna secretly referred to Frank as “the office hottie”. Fast forward a year later, both working for a different company, they were rekindled by Frank’s cousin who is friends of Jenna & strongly advised Frank ask Jenna on a date. Two days after their first date, they had their second date, and knew early on that they were going to marry each other someday.

What part of your wedding day was/is most important to you? The most important part of our wedding was our ceremony and vows. Standing in front of our family and friends, committing our love to each other for the rest of our lives was the most special moment that we agree we will never forget. Frank and I are both family oriented so when the time came to my father giving me away, it was an important and turned out to be an extremely emotional time for all of us, including the groom which was unexpected (see photos for proof) as he rarely shows his emotional side, but truly made this moment even more special!
As my father walked me down the aisle to the man I’ve always dreamed of spending forever with, I could not help but think of all the times I’ve pictured this moment and could not believe it was actually happening! I still get choked up thinking about it and reliving it when we look at pictures or watch our wedding video. It was a special time between me and the two most important men in my life that now, as we are about to welcome our first child, I picture Frank walking our daughter down the aisle someday to the man of her dreams and cannot help but feel all the emotions again!

Tell us a funny story relating to your wedding day or relationship! It never fails to down pour on days we have special events planned. It rained during our engagement shoot, wedding day, and most recently, our maternity shoot. Guess that just means we have extremely good luck now? We think so!

Describe a hurdle you had to overcome in your relationship or during your wedding planning.
There was a street fest going on in our church parking lot during our ceremony that the church did not inform us about until 5 days before our wedding day. We had to search for local parking garages and ask nearby churches if we could use their lots during this time while finding a shuttle service for guests that parked in lots far away. It was a disaster to deal with right before the wedding but with the help of family and our amazing vendors, we found a solution and quickly learned that no matter what goes wrong, the day will still be perfect, and it was.

What was your favorite part about planning your wedding? We both agree – the tasting! We are both foodies so naturally we had the best time taste testing all the delicious food and wine pairings with each course. It was a delightful and fun experience! Plus all our guests said we had the best wedding food and wedding cake they’ve ever had!

If you had one piece of advice for other couples, what would it be? The best advice I was given while planning our wedding day was to prepare in advance that something will go wrong the day of and all the planning in the world will not prevent that. The good news is that whatever goes wrong, your guests will not even notice so do not waste even a second being upset. The day truly goes by way too fast and then it is over forever. There is no time to waste being upset when you just married the love of your life!
