A beautiful and classy wedding at the Four Seasons in Vail. Filled with documentary moments and real emotions, this beautiful day had all the components for an elevated soiree!
How did you two meet? What were your first impressions of one another?
We met at the top floor of the Rowan Hotel in Palm Springs, California, after my husband saw me in an instagram photo and tracked me down from across the country. He says he knew the moment he saw me, and I knew shortly thereafter. Thus, his first impression was that he was looking at his wife and I my husband.
Tell us a funny story relating to your wedding day or relationship!
When my husband was trying to get my attention by commenting on my instagram stories, I at one point told him to basically “beat it.” To this day, he’ll say that’s when he had me right where he wanted me…which is him just being himself.
Describe a hurdle you had to overcome in your relationship or during your wedding planning.
I was shooting a short film in LA while trying to get moved across the country and planning a wedding at the Four Seasons in 30 days. We had constant “hurdles,” but because we were planning our wedding in one month, decisions had to be made quickly. We had to just keep pushing forward.
Any special ways you incorporated your family or family history into your wedding day?
Not necessarily, both my husband and I have strong family history and bonds. To that end, our wedding was an intimate affair involving close friends and family with less than 50 people.
What part of your wedding day was/is most important to you?
My husband would say watching me walk down the stairs at the Four Seasons to meet him at the alter. For me it was saying my vows in front of God and my family.
What is the best thing you’ve learned from one another?
My husband works a lot and to that end he often used his weekends to work or recover from a busy week. He says I’ve encouraged him to plan his year such that we create fun excursions and he can still be efficient in what he does.
I’ve learned a lot about European history… but seriously, Ive learned what it means to be intentional in my actions and my words.
What is your favorite thing about each other?
Mark: How my wife carries and cares for herself. She’s always put together and on top of it. I also love how much she has grown in her faith since we got married. She’s really been intentional about that aspect of her life.
Andrea: My husband is a man of strong character and a man of his word. I love his reliability and how he has the courage of his convictions.
What was your favorite part about planning your wedding?
Andrea: Aside from picking out my beautiful wedding dress in a one hour appointment, my favorite part was choosing where our family and friends would sit and who would enjoy each other’s company the most. I also loved create the music playlists.
Mark: planning?
If you had one piece of advice for other couples, what would it be?
Get counseling from the start of marriage. Many do pre-marriage counseling, but few seem to carry that into the first year. It was the best thing we’ve done for each other and our marriage. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of the cure and it has helped us understand ourselves and our relationship goals better than just going it alone.
What is the most honest thing you can say about love?
A love renewed everyday keeps no record of wrongs. We choose to love each other with purpose.
