Floral-Filled Hacienda San Luis Gonzaga Wedding

Floral-Filled Hacienda San Luis Gonzaga Wedding

Anne Elizabeth and Spencer’s floral-filled Hacienda San Luis Gonzaga wedding was an unforgettable experience that showcased the rich traditions of Mexico while capturing the essence of romance and beauty. From the bridal luncheon, welcome cocktail party to the rehearsal dinner and wedding itself, every detail was thoughtfully curated to immerse their guests in the vibrant colors, flavors, and ambiance of the setting. Join them below as we delve into the design vision and the unique venues that made their wedding truly magical.

Design Vision: From our rehearsal to our wedding, it was important to us to show our guest from the United States Mexico and their traditions. That meant having our welcome cocktail party at the bull ring that is situated in the heart of town. It was vibrant, colorful and fun with traditional Mexican food, a local band and lots of tequila. For our rehearsal dinner, we hosted it at Insituto Allende, a 17 century hacienda turned into an Art school in the 50’s and now is a wedding venue, and it has the best view of town! We went with traditional Talavera colors: white and blue, and stars lots of stars (tin stars are very traditional in San Miguel). For the wedding, we booked Hacienda San Luis Gonzaga, another 17 century hacienda outside of San Miguel. The vision was wanted romantic, fresh, and lots and lots of flowers. Friday night, we had the welcome party in the Plaza de Toros downtown San Miguel de Allende. This night was hosted by family friends and was so colorful. We had a tuk-tuk (small car) covered in flowers bringing people to the bullring, the burro (donkey) named Benito carrying colorful flowers, and Mexican folk dancers. We had amazing taco stands for all the guest and colorful tables spread throughout the bull ring. Guadalupe, Meegan and The Penzi team put together a very fun event with a live local band and 3,000 lit candles around the seating area of the bull ring. It was beautiful.

Proposal: Spencer and I meet on a blind date. A friend of ours set us up and we hit it off from the start. We lived in different cities, but traveled on weekends to visit. We dated from 2019 to 2021. In June of 2021, Spencer took me to his family’s ranch in the Texas Hill Country. We went to the highest point on the ranch and looked over the beautiful landscape. Spencer and I love the outdoors. I turned around and he was on one knee. After the proposal, we went to his family’s ranch house and both of our immediate families were there to surprise me. I was surprised and so thankful he was able to get everybody together. We had dinner and celebrated all the weekend together. It was perfect.

Saturday, I got ready with my bridesmaids and parents at Casa Cariño overlooking the city of San Miguel de Allende. Spencer and his groomsmen got dressed at the venue, Hacienda San Luis Gonzaga. When we got to the venue and got to see all the hard work Guadalupe, Meegan and the whole Penzi team had done. Walking in, the entrance had an arch of pink flowers and flowers twisted around the big tree in the front. Once you got thru the hacienda, there were flower arches leading up to the pool. The aisle was covered in pink rose petals and a large arch for the ceremony. It was breathtaking! The tents in the back for the reception had arch flowers leading into the tent and flowers on the polls holding up the tents. The chandeliers were made up of flowers and the head table had flowers running across it and dipping down on both sides. The Penzi team had hand painted our wedding crest on to the dance floor. It was incredible to see everything from our dreams made into reality. The Team worked so hard and everything was perfect. Our first dance there were sparklers on the ground surrounding us and it just felt like a fairytale. Towards the end of the night, we had a big firework show and as we made our exit our friends held sparklers and lead us to this fabulous vintage jaguar with flowers on the back windshield. It was the perfect night and perfect weekend. None of it would have been possible without the amazing Penzi team that worked so hard and made our dreams come true.

Color Palette: All shades of pink – both my mom and I love pink!

Special detail 1: Mesh by Alex created the most beautiful watercolor invitations that depicted the vibrance and flair of Mexico along with a wedding crest for the couple. The Penzi team hand-painted that crest on the dance floor to tie in the monogram from start to finish. Dress: A Monique Lhuillier sweetheart neckline bodice with a romantic illusion lace long-sleeve overlay, purchased from Casa de Novia Bridal Couture. My shoes were Stuart Weitzman. I got extra lace from Casa de Novia and had it put on the shoes to perfectly match my dress! Bridesmaids: The bridesmaids all choose their own dresses in various shades of pink, each with their own unique vibe that allowed their personalities to shine while still pulling off a cohesive look! Groom: Spencer donned a custom tux from LAKAN. Food & Drink: We had an amazing bicolor soup of roasted corn and Poblano peppers, followed by a choice of zucchini chicken supreme or beef tenderloin in a demi glace and mushroom sauce. Florals & Decor: The wedding was magical! Guadalupe Alvarez and Meegan Carrdenas from Penzi Weddings were our planners. They put together every aspect of the wedding to fulfill our dream wedding. The weekend started with the rehearsal dinner on Thursday. They worked closely with my in-laws to make a magical night overlooking downtown San Miguel de Allende from the Instituto Allende. It’s one of my favorite views to see all the churches lit up! The cocktail hour was in the fountain area where the three-tier fountain had flowers cascading over each tier. The amazing Penzi team bought in white couches and sitting areas, while others served up amazing appetizers and festive cocktails. There were mariachis singing, dancing and playing music for all the guests. When we walked into the dining area, you could see the whole city view. Above the mirrored tables with beautiful centerpieces of white and blue flowers where the Moravian Star chandeliers all lit up. It was beautiful. It was like walking into a dream. The food and service that evening was spectacular! Special detail 2: When I say it was floral-filled, it truly was! We had more than 25,000 thousand roses in different tones of pink! 3 arches welcomed the guests for the ceremony, which took place in the garden. Later, we walked to the reception site where we had 3 very large rose chandeliers. Cake: Our wedding cake was filled with fresh-strawberries. Planning & Design: Penzi Weddings
