Danielle & Kolten’s wedding was filled with love and emotion from the couple’s emotional first look to sharing their wedding vows privately to calm their nerves, you can feel their love bursting out of their wedding photos. Danielle & Kolten met while attending Texas A&M University. She was a freshman and he was a junior but the funny part is that Kolten lived across the bridge from Danielle her whole life (less than 5 minutes away) and they didn’t meet until college. Love how fate works out!
For their wedding, the couple took inspiration from a Bridgerton Garden Party using pastel hues with a focus on blue and pink along with lots of florals. One of their favorite touchpoint throughout their wedding was their monogram crest was highlighted in decor including the couple’s wedding invitations, signage, bar decor, and most importantly the dance floor.
How did you two meet? What were your first impressions of one another?
We briefly met at a mutual friend’s beach party in high school and nothing ever came of it. Fast forward two years later, we met again in college at Texas A&M University and the rest is history.
Tell us a funny story relating to your wedding day or relationship!
Our reception was supposed to be outside on the terrace of Villa Antonia, but the weather had different plans. It was extremely windy… Before the ceremony started, cocktail tables were actually flipping over and things were flying everywhere. Kolten had to use a whole bottle of hairspray to keep his hair in tact so it didn’t look crazy in pictures!
Describe a hurdle you had to overcome in your relationship or during your wedding planning.
The biggest hurdle during wedding planning was the wide variety of outside opinions we received about how to plan our wedding. We realized it would be impossible to please everybody in the end and had to stick to our ideas. Luckily we were fortunate enough to be working with Simply XO Events. They did an exceptional job executing our vision!
Any special ways you incorporated your family or family history into your wedding day?
One way we incorporated our family into our wedding day was having our uncle officiate us. We know it’s not traditional and it was a huge favor to ask, but he knows us best as a couple and it felt like the right thing to do. It meant so much to us that he said yes and took all the steps to become ordained for our wedding day.
What part of your wedding day was/is most important to you?
One of the most important parts of our wedding day was having our grandparents attend. We know many do not get the privilege of having their grandparents present on their big day so we felt so fortunate. We are both the first grandchildren in our families to get married so it was a huge deal for us.
What is the best thing you’ve learned from one another?
We’ve been together for seven years and we’ve learned a lot from each other throughout our relationship. In the context of the wedding, we learned that working together and supporting each other is crucial. In times of stress, it is important to be by each other’s side and navigate challenges as a team – not as individuals. Planning a wedding is stressful, but tackling challenges together made it much easier.
What is your favorite thing about each other?
D: My favorite thing about Kolten is his confidence and assertiveness. He never lets other people’s opinions waver his decisions.
K: My favorite thing about Danielle is her bubbly personality. She always lights up a room and makes the people around her happier – including me!
What was your favorite part about planning your wedding?
Our favorite part of the planning process was our final mock up meeting with our wedding planners. Seeing everything come together was very rewarding and made all the stress worth it in the end.
If you had one piece of advice for other couples, what would it be?
It is tempting to get caught up in the small details, but don’t – it’s not worth the stress. What matters is the big picture and having your closest family and friends there to celebrate your love for one another. On your wedding day, the small things that you bickered over won’t matter, so don’t let them bother you!
What is the most honest thing you can say about love?
Love is as hard as you make it. Choose your battles wisely, work towards goals together, and pick each other up in times of need.
