Morgan’s first impression of Blake was him wearing camo overalls, shirtless, with a camo hat at a college function. Not her favorite pattern, but it was the theme of the event! Morgan’s biggest crush started that night .. and now here they are, making pancakes and coffee together while preparing for their upcoming wedding! Let’s take a peek at their morning …
from the photographer: “Morgan and Blake are a real couple planning their wedding next year. We spent the morning baking pancakes, sipping coffee and dancing in the sunlight. Morgan and Blake were an absolute blast and undeniably adorable. Both sessions were shot in film (Kodak 400 and 800 with the Nikon F5) and digital, but the film takes the cake.”
How did you two meet? What were your first impressions of one another?
Blake and I both went to the University of South Carolina! I met him sophomore year when one of my good friends took him to Mallard Ball, an Alpha Delta Pi function. I immediately noticed him, and asked who he was, and she told me, ‘Oh that’s just Blake Hill from Fort Mill!’ Blake was always around because we had mutual friends. I always had the biggest crush on him, but had no idea he was crushing on me too! Fast forward to senior year of college, and I needed a date to an ADPi function! That same friend that brought Blake to the function sophomore year, suggested I ask Blake to the Lowcountry Boil function! I asked him, he said yes, and then two weeks later we were on our first date to Tsunami in the Vista and a South Carolina basketball game, and the rest is history!
Tell us a funny story relating to your wedding day or relationship!
The very first time I met Blake he was wearing camo overalls, and no shirt on, as well as a camo hat. Camo was the theme of the function, and besides that one day a year in college, you wouldn’t ever catch me in camo, but that night, Blake was really pulling off those camo overalls, and that’s when the biggest crush I’ve ever had on a guy began! He still has those overalls too!
Describe a hurdle you had to overcome in your relationship or during your wedding planning.
A hurdle we’ve overcome in our relationship would relate to our careers. Blake had the dream to serve in the military, but unfortunately was medically disqualified. Morgan dreamed of being a sideline reporter for ESPN, but God had different plans for both of us. Blake is now working for a custom home builder, and loves his job! He’s extremely good at it too. Morgan manages social media accounts for small businesses, and is a lifestyle content creator! While she misses telling athletes stories, she loves what she is doing now and knows it’s all part of God’s plan.
The biggest hurdle during wedding planning has probably been guest size and budget. We both have divorced parents, and they all have a lot of friends! Blake and I both also have large families. We would love to have everyone who wants to come there, however wedding are super expensive, so we have to keep the budget in mind.
Any special ways you incorporated your family or family history into your wedding day?
Morgan and her dad are extremely close! They are doing a choreographed dance for their father daughter dance! Blake’s grandmother serves chocolate chip cookies as an appetizer before she serves dinner, so those will be a passed app at the wedding, and lastly, we have a Greek food truck coming! Morgan’s step moms family is all Greek and Morgan has loved the traditions she has learned growing up from the family!
Blake’s sisters are honorary bridesmaids in the wedding, and Morgan has two of her sisters in her wedding party!
What part of your wedding day was/is most important to you?
The ceremony! We can’t wait to say ‘I do’ in front of all of our friends and family! We are so excited to officially be married!
What is the best thing you’ve learned from one another?
Love, trust and patience! Our relationship is built on trust. We’ve both been through relationships where trust was broken and that something super important to us. We are completely transparent with each other. Blake has learned patience due to Morgan’s getting ready process! Wouldn’t it be nice to wake up, brush teeth and head out the door ladies?! Morgan likes to take her time to get ready, so Blake has learned how to be patient while waiting for her. Lastly, love. We have such a fun relationship because of how much we love each other and our families!
What is your favorite thing about each other?
Blake’s favorite thing about Morgan is the Morgan no one else knows. Coming from a journalism background, she has always presented herself in a professional way, however Blake knows how to make her goofy side come out. We laugh so hard together!
Morgan’s favorite thing about Blake is his craftsmanship! He is super handy! Morgan can request a house project and Blake almost always knows how to get it started, and what he will need to complete it!
What was your favorite part about planning your wedding?
Knowing that all of my hard work will pay off to create the wedding I’ve always dreamed of! Wedding planning is stressful, even with a planner, because you still have so many decisions to make! I’ve dreamed of this day since i was a little girl though and I can’t wait to see my vision come to life!
If you had one piece of advice for other couples, what would it be?
Trust each other, and never lose that trust. Trust is absolutely everything in a relationship. Be open, be transparent, talk to each other about the good, the bad and the ugly, and have each others backs always! Be the support you want from your other half!
What is the most honest thing you can say about love?
It’s not easy, but it’s so worth it! There are highs and lows, but if you can always remember why you fell in love in the first place, everything will always work out. That’s where trust and support come into play. Relationships aren’t easy, and it takes work! Remember to take the time to spend with each other, go on date nights, learn each others love languages, give surprises, and loving each other will be easy!
