Brooke and Justin had a beautiful wedding day with their family and friends. Accentuated by a beautiful backdrop with a perfect sunset, their day reflected their love for each other. We love how they worked together, taking on different aspects and responsibilities of the wedding day to alleviate the pressure on each other!
from the photographer: “Brooke and Justin’s Mount Palomar wedding was gorgeous and elegant. The perfect summer wedding in my opinion. Mount Palomar is located in Temecula, CA, and is one of the beautiful wineries in the area. They only host one wedding per day to ensure that you will have the time you need to enjoy your day without being rushed. This is one of my favorite things about Mount Palomar. Their attention to detail with every wedding is terrific. Mount Palomar makes a range of fine wines, emphasizing classic, Bordeaux style blends and Italian varieties. Brooke and Justin were married in a beautiful ceremony. Their vows were so touching, and their love for each other radiated through my camera.”
How did you two meet? What were your first impressions of one another?
Justin and I met on a dating app called Hinge! For our first date, we went to a hockey game at the Honda Center. The Kings were playing the Ducks, and the Kings won. We were both very happy. My first impression of Justin was that he was very sweet and respectful. I wanted to kiss him on our first date, but he wanted to wait out of respect to me. We ended up having our first kiss on our third date!
Tell us a funny story relating to your wedding day or relationship!
On the morning of our wedding, Justin went golfing with his buddies. During our first look, I noticed there was a white stripe across his forehead with red around it! It turns out that while he was golfing, he wore his hat backwards and got a sunburn on his forehead. I thought it was very funny!
Describe a hurdle you had to overcome in your relationship or during your wedding planning.
I got very stressed during our wedding planning because I felt like I was taking on every project by myself. I voiced my concerns to Justin, and he took on some of the responsibilities. He ordered the wedding dessert, helped with the invitations and registry, and made the hotel reservations.
Any special ways you incorporated your family or family history into your wedding day?
Justin and I both had our grandmother’s sign our marriage certificate as witnesses. It was a very special moment because I only have one living grandmother, and Justin’s grandmother is in poor health, making it difficult for her to even attend our wedding. Heather Anderson, our photographer, was able to capture pictures of both of our grandmothers signing our marriage certificate.
What part of your wedding day was/is most important to you?
Our vows are most important to us. Even though we used the standard vows provided by my priest, we both felt the words we recited on spiritual level. We cried tears of joy as we promised to honor and love each other in sickness and health, for richer or poorer, and for better or for worse.
What is the best thing you’ve learned from one another?
From Justin, I learned it is important to show interest in each other’s hobbies. I go to Justin’s hockey games to watch him play and he comes to church with me.
What is your favorite thing about each other?
I love Justin’s care for other people. He is the best at gift-giving. He always takes note of what people like or enjoy, then gets the gifts tailored to their interests.
What was your favorite part about planning your wedding?
I loved getting in touch with friends I have not spoken to for a while. Our wedding felt almost like a reunion. It was great getting to know Justin’s friends as well. I hear so many stories about them, and I finally got to meet them all.
If you had one piece of advice for other couples, what would it be?
Complete at least one activity per week that reminds you why you love your partner. It can be anything- a date, sex, playing a game, going for a walk, watching a movie together, or anything you enjoy doing with each other. When you have fun with your partner, you remember why you chose to spend your life with that person.
What is the most honest thing you can say about love?
Love is glue. Living with someone and sharing your life is hard work, but love makes it all worth it. Through love, we can accomplish anything.
