A beautiful lifestyle newborn session full of simple moments as well as gentle touches that were captured so well and will be remembered for a lifetime. Otto’s little Winnie the Pooh themed nursery is so sweet and captivating as the family soaked in such a special time in their life!
Otto is here! His mom and dad are endlessly happy and proud of their sweet baby boy. We photographed this special time in their life inside their West Michigan home in Otto’s Winnie the Pooh nursery and mom and dad’s master bedroom. Perrin, their sweet greyhound, loves his new companion but wasn’t so sure about photos…. What a beautiful family! -Hetler Photography
What’s your favorite family pastime together? Before the birth of our son, our favorite ways to spend our time together were cooking together while listening to Frank Sinatra and taking long leisurely walks to our local outdoor farmers market. Since our son, Otto, has been here, we’ve been able to enjoy a few walks outside when the Michigan weather allows. Our favorite activity now is simply watching him learn new things and soaking up the sweet newborn cuddles. We can’t wait to watch him learn and grow.
Any lessons you learned as a family through the last year? Over the last year, we’ve learned the importance and joy that flexibility can bring! As a two-physician household (in a pandemic!), our schedules have been all over the place. Thankfully, we are now enjoying parental leave together. Prioritizing our family is now more important than ever, and requires a lot of preparation and forethought. However, sometimes things don’t go as expected – and that’s where flexibility comes in!
Tell us a fun or silly story that happened to your family recently! Let’s just say that diaper changes with a baby boy have resulted in a lot of laughs – the walls, curtains, and our shoes may find it a little less funny!
What does family mean to you? Simply, family means everything to us. We’ve spent years pursuing our careers, and love what we do – but we love our marriage and parenthood even more. Family is at the root of everything we do and every decision we make. Identifying your priorities and staying true to them takes work, but it’s worth it.
If you had one piece of advice for other families, what would it be? Keep laughing! Sometimes dinner goes cold because the baby needs extra cuddles, or spit-up gets in surprising places or big plans fall through. Real-life is messy. If you can embrace that and find the humor in the little things, life looks a lot brighter.
