from the photographer: “In anticipation of their May wedding next year, Abby and Dallas orchestrated an engagement session that effortlessly blended timeless elegance, modern sophistication, and natural allure. Collaborating closely, we meticulously curated outfits and pinpointed the ideal setting at Christionson’s Nursery. Against this picturesque backdrop, their love story unfolded beautifully on film, capturing candid moments that radiated with genuine affection. Set amidst the enchanting Christionson’s garden, abundant with roses, their summer engagement session epitomized romance. As we eagerly await their upcoming wedding, the captured essence of their love fills us with excitement and anticipation.”

How did you two meet? What were your first impressions of one another?

Dallas and I met on Bumble, the dating app where women make the first move. I almost didn’t meet him in person after he suggested that we walk around Town Lake at night (we lived in Austin, Texas at the time). I’m so grateful I looked past that creepy initial suggestion. Instead, we met at a pizza shop just a few houses down from where I lived at the time (though, he didn’t know that). I even got there early and parked my car right out front, even though I was walking distance from my house – safety first! Turns out he was the sweetest guy I’d ever met! It was hilarious telling him later that I used double precautions when meeting him for the first time, just in case I needed a VERY quick escape

Tell us a funny story relating to your wedding day or relationship!

About 2 weeks before Dallas proposed, I got it in my head that my ring size was a 6.5. I had figured out my ring size a year prior to this (it’s a 5.5), and sent it to him. Then, out of nowhere I started to think it was a 6.5 and thought I should just “remind” him in case he forgot (wink wink). Turns out, it was already a 2 week countdown to the proposal that I had no idea about, and made Dallas absolutely panic and think the ring wouldn’t fit. Luckily, it fit perfectly!

Describe a hurdle you had to overcome in your relationship or during your wedding planning.

The most challenging thing that we’ve experienced during wedding planning is balancing the aspects of the wedding that may be a lot more important to one person than the other. It’s all about communication and figuring out the “top 3 things” that are the most important to each person – that way each partner is able to put as much of their personality into the wedding as they can!

Any special ways you incorporated your family or family history into your wedding day?

We can’t wait to have all of our siblings standing with us at the altar. Abby’s cousin will also be officiating the wedding, which will be so special.

What part of your wedding day was/is most important to you?

The most important thing to us is to be able to celebrate with our family and friends in an intimate setting. Our wedding will hopefully be filled with laughter, candid moments, and lots of great food and dancing!

What is the best thing you’ve learned from one another?

The best thing Abby has learned from Dallas: Not to take yourself or life too seriously, and to find passion in everyday life. Dallas is the king of making time (if just a few minutes) for hobbies that keep him sane. He is so good at work life balance and always encourages me to seek that in everyday life! The best thing Dallas has learned from Abby: pretty much everything. Just kidding, I’ve learned how to be a great cat dad and hopefully human dad one day by watching her love our cats… and niece and nephew of course.

What is your favorite thing about each other?

Abby’s favorite thing about Dallas: His kind and goofy spirit. I love how even if we have a disagreement, two seconds later I can look at him and totally forget about it. Often, that’s because he instantly cracked a smile – we never take ourselves too seriously, which turns into a really good conflict resolution skill. Dallas’ favorite thing about Abby: Her kindness and compassion for others. It was one of the things that made me fall for her instantly!

What was your favorite part about planning your wedding?

Abby is really enjoying planning all the little details. From our table settings, to wedding day perfumes, to creative seating chart – it’s so fun to put your personality and relationship into this day! Dallas really enjoyed planning the menu and choosing music for the DJ!

If you had one piece of advice for other couples, what would it be?

It sounds cliche, but it’s true. Choose your best friend! And don’t stop investing in your relationship once you’re engaged or married. We hope to grow with each other and learn from each other for as long as we can!

What is the most honest thing you can say about love?

That it’s the greatest gift we can be given!
