Today’s feature is a strawberry inspired wedding editorial with gin recipe that’s a fun take on bright pops of color to add in a summery feel without overtaking the color palette. With strawberries being a focal point for this editorial, other red accents were added in to support the overall theme & bring in the bold pops all throughout the design. Such fun wedding inspiration for any bride who loves color but would still like a very balanced look!
When dreaming up the design for this wedding editorial, Alexandra of Willow & Ivy Events and Erica of Lilyput Weddings were inspired by the bright pops of red in a summer strawberry field. Red can be a particularly divisive color in the wedding world. It can oftentimes overpower all of the colors in the palette. To avoid this while still giving this inspiration a summery pep, red was limited to fresh fruit, small accents in the florals, and a super fun strawberry cocktail. Esther Frederick Photography captured every moment in dreamy detail. The layout created included a gorgeous ceremony space flanked by wild garden inspired florals, one guest table and one sweetheart table to accommodate a small mico-wedding of 6 guests plus the bride and groom. It was housed at The Micro Venue, a small event space in Seattle catering to more intimate soirees which was the perfect backdrop for the design. Each place setting included an organic style setup with glass cloche place cards by Papier and Design placed over small sprigs of cheery florals, a wooden charger plate, and classic white and gold accents. The funky glassware brought a bit of modern edge to the soft, organic tablescape studded with secret garden style florals running down the table. -Esther Frederick Photography
What’s a celebration without food and drink? Small cheese boards were provided for guests and a strawberry gin smash cocktail was created to partner with the classic old fashioned. We’ve included a recipe for the cocktail below! In addition to the cheeseboard, mini strawberry pie and cake were provided by Delicately Sweet Confections.. The two tiered buttercream cake was created in a simple, modern style with a patterned bottom tier and adorned with strawberry vines to complete the look.
For the bride’s look, Jen Lagers created a soft, subtle vibe in shades of pink that highlighted the pale blush of the beaded Galia Lahav wedding gown from Nyanza Bridal. Her twisted low bun updo was accented by gorgeous crystal pins for a little added sparkle.
STRAWBERRY GIN SMASH
½ lime, cut into wedges
6 strawberries, hulled
2 tbsp granulated sugar, less if you don’t like a sweet drink
6 ounces gin
¼ cup Club soda or tonic water
Add the juice of two wedges of lime to two glasses along with a tbsp of sugar. Muddle the strawberries with the back of a spoon in the glasses until the sugar is mostly dissolved.
Add ice, three ounces of gin to each glass, and fill the glass to the top with club soda. Enjoy!
