Scroll to the bottom for some great tips on how to incorporate this aesthetic into your wedding day!!
Vision: For the couple dreaming up a romantic estate wedding, this editorial was meant to inspire bold brides and grooms looking to add something extra to their otherwise classic wedding venue. From an ‘Inspired with Julie’ Mastermind Shoot with Julie Livingston Photography, the inspiration unfolded around a jungle chic tablescape that was full of color, pattern and style.
Color Palette: When it came to color, nothing was off limits! From bold cheetah print accents to linens bursting with jungle hues, bright colors across the spectrum were featured with flair.
Venue: Lowndes Grove is a beloved Charleston wedding venue that boasts an iconic southern ambiance and an amazing wedding guest experience. Nestled along the Ashley River and surrounded by centuries old oak trees, it’s a historic gem dating back to 1786 that has been lovingly restored to host some of the south’s most beautiful celebrations. The Main House is adorned with period furnishings, a sprawling veranda, a grand lawn, and sun-drenched terraces crafted from bluestone, brick, and oyster tabby. Within this tranquil and elegant environment, the natural splendor of the Lowcountry unfolds, offering breathtaking sunset vistas over the waterfront.
Fashion: We envisioned our inspiration groom beginning the day with a slow sailboat ride through Charleston’s marshes. Spending the morning savoring the sunshine, his bride would be soaking in the sanctity of their upcoming vows during her impromptu boudoir session in her Saint Bridal Gardenia Veil. As she gets wedding ready, she slips into her fun and flirty tulle dress with cloud-like layers perfect for floating down the aisle. She grabs her bouquet that further teases the whimsy that is to come at the reception. For the reception, she’s got another surprise up her sleeve with a u-neck corset mini featuring 3D flowers.
Florals & Decor: Julie Livingston expressed to Blythe from Hill & Co Creative her desire for abundant color and patterns. Understanding the assignment, she humorously noted after the fact that her team wouldn’t describe themselves as minimalists. Set in the dining room of Lowndes Grove, the scene unveils a soft yellow backdrop complemented by antique furnishings reminiscent of the 1700s. Classic collides with creative as a lively estate table takes center stage, adorned with vibrant linens featuring a menagerie of colorful jungle creatures and foliage. Potted ferns standing tall in front of the windows further the jungle ambiance, while an extravagant centerpiece steals the spotlight, showcasing exotic orchids, lilies, English roses, tulips, pink magnolia branches, and lush greenery, all woven into a beautifully wild arrangement.
Favorite Design Element: It’s no surprise that what sets our hearts aflutter is the intricate layering of patterns and colors. Each layer of the tablescape adds depth and visual interest, creating a vibrant and dynamic look that captivates. From the rich jungle-inspired prints showcased in the linens to the lush and colorful blooms adorning the centerpiece, every element contributes to the tapestry of textures and hues.
The juxtaposition of bold patterns and the delicate backdrop create a harmonious yet visually stimulating composition. Each pattern tells its own story, adding to the overall narrative of the design. Furthermore, the strategic use of color enhances the immersive experience, evoking the lushness of a tropical paradise. Vibrant greens, sunny yellows, and exotic bursts of pink and orange transport guests to a world of untamed beauty and boundless creativity.
Overall, the layering of patterns and colors brings a sense of depth, excitement, and personality to the jungle chic ambiance, making it a feast for the eyes and a celebration of individuality and style.
Here some tips on how you can bring this vibrant aesthetic to life for your own special day:
1. Choose a Venue with Character: Look for a venue that provides a stunning backdrop that is enough of a clean slate that it can take on such a bold vision. Consider outdoor locations with lush greenery, botanical gardens, or venues with historic charm and architectural details that can complement the theme.
2. Set the Tone with Color and Patterns: Embrace bold, vibrant colors and eye-catching patterns throughout your decor. Opt for a color palette inspired by nature such as shades of green with pops of vibrant yellows, oranges, reds and pinks. Incorporate animal prints, tropical foliage patterns, and floral motifs into your linens, stationery, and other design elements.
3. Create Lush Botanical Arrangements: Work with your florist to design arrangements that evoke the lushness of the jungle. Incorporate a variety of exotic flowers and tropical blooms, along with plenty of greenery like ferns, palm leaves, and monstera leaves. Arranging them in a wild and organic way adds drama and texture to your decor.
4. Set the Table with Style: Dress your tables with colorful linens featuring patterns! Layer different textures and patterns for visual interest, and accentuate the look with vibrant tableware, such as unique plates, hued glassware, patterned napkins and fun silverware.
5. Create a Feast for the Senses: Enhance the sensory experience for your guests by incorporating elements like tropical cocktails, exotic fruit displays, or a live band playing rhythmic, tropical-inspired music.
