We do love a cozy feeling engagement shoot. And then when some golden light peeks through and gives it warm tones … well that’s just the icing on the cake! Kelsey and Lee had a cozy and adventurous engagement session in Montana celebrating their love, and it was captured so beautifully by Keeley McKay Photography.
How did you two meet?
Lee and I always call ourselves an even slower moving Pam and Jim. After working for years together and dating others, we finally went from friends to more than friends. We met in Laramie, Wyoming where we worked at the same environmental firm. We then moved to Bozeman back to where Lee grew up and are now building our home from the ground up! Kinda crazy to look back at where we started.
What’s your proposal story?
Lee was entirely too sweet and kept trying to get me to go on our favorite hike right before a vacation. I kept pushing it off and finally ‘threw him a bone’ (insert me cringing) and went on the dang hike. Even though he had only about twenty minutes’ notice that we were going on the hike, he somehow snuck the ring and a bottle of champagne in our packs for the hike. At our favorite waterfall he got down on one knee and the rest is a teary mess on my end.
What’s your ring like?
My ring is a pear-shaped, lab-grown diamond from Miadonna with a gold band. It has a hidden halo underneath that gives it an extra special detail that I love.
What inspired your wardrobe choices?
It’s always a bit of a conundrum getting ‘dressed up’ in Montana. (Plus, I’m someone that is too clumsy to wear heels in an uneven field.) So rather than forcing it I paired boots with with a sweater and silky skirt. Montana, but engaged as I like to call.
Lee is happiest in a laidback flannel – well he is most happy on the golf course, but I nixed the golf attire real quick.
