A sun drenched engagement session comes to you today from warm Florida – featuring Mariya & David, a nurse and chef with a passion for clean cooking! They wanted a romantic engagement session, so they headed out to Bok Towers with photographer Kaity Brawley to do just that!
How did you two meet?
We met at a Christmas party. It was the most beautiful Florida evening and the event was held on a balcony overlooking 5th Avenue. I’ll never forget the instant pull I felt when David walked onto the balcony. Who knew we would be celebrating our engagement on that same balcony 5 years later!
How did the proposal happen?
He proposed on the beach surrounded by our family members. It was his birthday and I had no idea it was coming. The very last gift he opened was a ring for me. It was such a shock that I said “What” several times before I said yes!
Tell us about your ring!
David did such an amazing job with my engagement ring. I don’t think I will ever get tired for staring at it! I had given him many hints about my dream ring but the ring he designed was even more beautiful than I ever imagined.
He looked at several oval diamonds before selecting the one with the most sparkle. David then had the setting designed for the diamond.
My beautiful ring a diamond oval center stone with a diamond under-halo on a petite white gold diamond band.
What inspired you for your engagement shoot?
We had so much fun with our engagement shoot. Our photographer, Kaity Brawley, made the whole process so easy for us.
We were able to do two different looks, so we decided to go with one formal and one a little more casual.
For our first look, I wore a beige maxi dress with floras (from Lulu’s) and brown (Steve Madden) flats. David wore light khaki pants (from Brooks Brothers) and a blue dress shirt (from Banana Republic). This look was perfect for our Florida spring wedding.
The second look for me was a black sweater dress with block heels and a flannel with jeans for David.
Kaity had suggested the most beautiful location, Bok Tower Gardens, which was a couple hours north of where we live. The location was so worth the commute. One of the shoot locations, we were surrounded by oak trees with Spanish moss, and the light was beaming through so beautifully—it made for the most picturesque scene!
We were a little nervous prior to the shoot, but Kaity made us feel so comfortable and gave us direction. We are so happy with how beautiful they turned out and will cherish them forever.
