Kim & Greg’s Geneva on the Lake wedding day was stunning, filled with traditions, beautiful design & enjoying time with family & friends! The modern estate was classic, charming & the perfect place to take their vows together. Afterwards, Kim & Greg knew how to live it up on the dance floor celebrating the night away with loved ones!
This modern estate is Geneva on the Lake and what wedding dreams are made of this. As a finger lakes wedding venue hosts a tent, beautiful gardens and a courtyard which offer so much beauty to the Rochester NY wedding venue options. As usual, the people make these pictures and Kim + Greg are everything. I mean that. I want to have a dance party with them every weekend, invite myself over for backyard bbqs and accidentally show up on vacation in the same spot. Did you follow their honeymoon in South Africa? #goals. I create photographs for people so that they can celebrate life. I believe life is beautiful and worth sharing. We often need a remind of what is important and photographs do that for us. This day will add sunshine to any clouds and I canât wait to see what you think. The Inn on the Lake in Geneva, New York is a classically inspired building. Black and white striped awnings and round globe lamps lead the way to the gardens and pool over looking the lake. It offers all the beauty of a lakeside wedding venue with the charm of architecture for a modern couple. Greg and Kim actually chose the venue after I was booked for their initial date. Endlessly gratefully they reconsidered and choose to bring me along.
Kimâs stunning Mikaella Bridal dress came from the one and only Silk Bridal Boutique in Rochester, New York. It fit perfectly and was a perfect dress for her modern estate wedding. Because everything was onsite, the wedding day moved easily from one event to the next. Getting ready flowed into a first look, portraits, bridal party photos and family. Capturing everything before the ceremony gave us ample time to enjoy with guests during cocktail hour. Kimâs best friend Julie Acree owns the company Ăcrit en Bleu and did all of the custom calligraphy and hand lettering. Kimâs hair was done by Mykel Dwaileebe from Rock Paper Scissors. This image was taken at the end of the day, but I love how gorgeous her hair still looks after 6 hours. Makeup was done by Angel Flint and looked stunning all day long. Stacy K provided the stunning florals for the day and itâs no surprise they were amazing. The organic and sculptural bouquets she creates for brides make this Geneva on the Lake wedding day even more beautiful. I absolutely love a first look on the stairs and the way we are able to capture the emotion of this moment. You already know this, but a first look changes the feeling of a day and allows so much more freedom with your schedule.
How stunning are these bridesmaids in pastel peach tones and floral dresses? I love this moment helping Kim with her veil in the gardens of Inn on the Lake. So much of your venue dictates the look and feel of the day. Being able to take cues from the location allows you to inform all other decisions and Kim and Greg pulled this off perfectly. The ceremony took place next to the gardens overlooking the lake. The walk from the main house to the ceremony site was stunning. These are the moments you really benefit from having two photographers. Once the party began, it didnât stop! I love a tent wedding for the ease of dancing and documenting it. Kim and Greg have serious moves and I know why are destined to be bffs. Thank you so much for inviting me in to your lives. I loved telling the story of your day, and capturing moments that will define your life and your relationship. – Mary Dougherty
How did you two meet? What were your first impressions of one another?
We met at work! Greg claims he made an effort to run into me around the building the rest of the day. I don’t know that’s true? But I do remember thinking he was cute!
Tell us a funny story relating to your wedding day or relationship!
While Greg was the one initially interested – I made the first move! We played kickball together in our company’s league, and the rest is history.
Describe a hurdle you had to overcome in your relationship or during your wedding planning.
We struggled to find common ground with the guest list. Our venue, Geneva on the Lake, was so important to us. We needed to keep the list to their capacity, so that limited some friends/family we were able to include in our day.
Any special ways you incorporated your family or family history into your wedding day?
Greg grew up Catholic and I grew up Jewish. We felt it was important to pay homage to our families by incorporating some traditions into our ceremony. While our ceremony was not religious, we lit the unity candle and were married under my Pop Pop’s tallis as our chuppah.
What part of your wedding day was/is most important to you?
We wanted to enjoy the time with friends and family! Most of the reception you could find us both on the dance floor. Greg’s answer is probably the food.
If you had one piece of advice for other couples, what would it be?
It’s clichĂŠ, but enjoy every moment. I goes by so so fast, so really try and be present and take it all in.
What is the most honest thing you can say about love?
Celebrating the little things – not just the big!
What part of your wedding day was/is most important to you?
We wanted to enjoy the time with friends and family! Most of the reception you could find us both on the dance floor. Greg’s answer is probably the food.
What is the best thing you’ve learned from one another?
We’ve learned to listen to one another. Throughout our relationship we realized that we (at times) do not speak the same language. So really giving each other the space to listen and understand.
What is your favorite thing about each other?
That we can be our true selves around each other. I think this past year + a half in (and finally out) of quarantine, your person was your person. And really your only person! I’ve always loved spending time with Greg, but now even more so – is that weird?
What was your favorite part about planning your wedding?
Working with our photographer, Mary! All of our vendors were truly a dream to work with.
