Jordan & Will’s British Columbia beach engagement takes place in a beautiful setting, on a serene pebble beach with mountains in the distance, it truly is a captivating scene! With not much shade coverage and breaks in the clouds, the light completely surrounds them. Creating a warm glow as they dipped their feet in the gently rolling waves and walked among the rocks.
Jordan and Will came to Kelowna BC for their engagement session and as luck would have it, thunderstorms were in the forecast. The sky looked ominous but just as we arrived at the beach, the sun started to poke out between the dark clouds. The light was warm but cool, dark but bright and just overall gorgeous. Will and Jordan will be coming back to Kelowna this fall to get married! -Lyndsay Touchings of Minted Photography How did you two meet? What were your first impressions of one another? Jordan: We met on Bumble! My first impression of Will was that he was very kind and funny. Not going into our date thinking that this would turn into anything serious, I was pleasantly surprised that he seemed different in the best way. The way I would describe our relationship is that we started talking and simply never stopped—it’s just easy with him. Nearly six years later, it’s still just as fun as our first date.
Will: My first impression of Jordan was that she was extremely cute and outgoing. I would end up coming down with a cold shortly after our first date and she showed up at my door with a bag of cold supplies and that’s when I learned she was extremely caring as well.
Tell us a funny story relating to your wedding day or relationship! J: A recent favorite moment was when we were on a trip to Kelowna. We went for an outdoor lunch at a winery and a sudden thunderstorm rolled through. I have a hilarious video of Will eating a slice of pizza while simultaneously holding our table umbrella in place from the high winds while everyone else was running for cover. It was just a testament to how calm he is in any situation and makes the best out of anything!
W: I literally told Jordan that I didn’t think I would ever get married on our first date. It’s funny looking back to see how much she’s changed my perspective on marriage and I couldn’t ask for anything more.
Describe a hurdle you had to overcome in your relationship or during your wedding planning. 1J: We’ve been together for nearly six years so we’ve gone through a lot together. From sudden job changes in a pandemic, experiencing family loss, meeting new family members, and even adopting a cat on a whim, all the unexpected is what’s made us stronger in the end.
W: I was battling a lot of issues because I had worked over a decade of shift-work in a demanding profession. Jordan was right there by my side and I will always be grateful for everything she did for me during that difficult time.
Any special ways you incorporated your family or family history into your wedding day? J: Our wedding is small, so we wanted to make sure that our family felt included and special from start to finish. Will’s dad will be legally marrying us in Alberta before our official ceremony in BC, which was very special for us. We are both very close with our siblings, and they are part of our wedding party. Both of my parents will also be walking me down the aisle as it was very important to me to include them both in that moment. We will also have photos on display of family members who are no longer with us so they can still be with us that day. Will also planned to have his two brothers wear a Superman shirt under their tuxedos for some photos so that they can recreate his parent’s favorite photo from their childhood before the ceremony. What part of your wedding day was/is most important to you? It was important to us to have a small and intimate wedding to make it feel as special as possible. Giving all our guests the best possible experience in the Okanagan was top of mind as everyone is traveling from all over the world for us. We hope the magic of it shines through in all the details! What is the best thing you’ve learned from one another? J: The best thing I’ve learned from Will is how to be more patient. I tend to overthink and Will is always here to bring me back down to earth and not sweat the small stuff. I’ve also learned he’s the best dad to our cat, Claudia!
W: I’ve learned from Jordan that it is all about the aesthetic. No matter what she is working on, she always finds a way to make it beautiful.
What is your favorite thing about each other? J: My favorite thing about Will is how selfless and caring he is. Whether it’s going out of his way to do thoughtful things for his friends and family, bringing me a morning coffee every day, and always making sure I’m taken care of and loved, he is always one step ahead of everyone’s needs.
W: My favorite thing about Jordan is how caring she is. Whether she is helping her dad run his business Instagram account or helping her sister prep for work exams, she will do anything to help out her friends and family.
What was your favorite part about planning your wedding? J: We have been engaged for two years, so I think my favorite part was getting to take our time and really enjoy the process. As we started so far from our wedding date, we were lucky to get our top choice in all vendors who have made this process so seamless for us. Most importantly, getting to plan this day with Will has been the best! There aren’t many other times to have our favorite people in one place, so it’s been very exciting to look forward to all the love that awaits us on our wedding day.
W: My favorite part has been getting the opportunity to spend more time with Jordan. It has been a blast planning with her and it has made me appreciate all of the things that go into planning a wedding.
What is the most honest thing you can say about love? J: I know that every situation that awaits us both in life is manageable because he’s by my side. Picking your partner for the good times isn’t enough. Find someone who wants to be with you in the worst of times too and you can take on anything.
W: You’re teammates so you should be each other’s biggest fans. They say that relationships take work and that may be true, but love with the right person feels like the easiest thing in the world.
If you had one piece of advice for other couples, what would it be? Our biggest piece of advice for other couples is to enjoy the moment. This wedding will just be the start of our lives together, but we want to look back and know we were living in the “now” and everything will unfold as it’s supposed to.
