There is a reason why they say that “absence makes the heart grow fonder,” and it has nothing to do with longing. Longing can certainly bring two souls together, but it will no more keep them so than simple circumstance. Absence makes the heart work; it means going the extra distance to connect where geography cannot and exercising the muscles that proximity keeps in a permanent state of rest. Absence makes the heart grow fonder because absence, simply, makes the heart… grow.
We have had the immeasurable pleasure of representing couples who’ve withstood distance, and each time we have heard their resounding endurance, seen the beautiful love that was forged through its fire. Not every love can suffer its toil and win—but, by our count, each that does emerges with a certain long-cast fortitude.
Today’s feature is strength in the making: separation, perseverance, and femininity in one.
A word from Courtney Ross of Courtney Noelle Photographie:
“The inspiration behind this vintage intimate editorial shoot was to tell the story of a woman who is enduring the winter alone waiting for her beau to be home from a distant place. We wanted to feature beautiful vintage intimates, specifically the elegant fur-trimmed robe from La Lovely Vintage. The idea was to keep it as a very simple, fashion editorial with minimal details and feature the daring beauty of the model as realized on various film stocks.”
