Any special ways you incorporated your family or family history into your wedding day? “I wore my Nana’s garter! My nana, my mom, and my aunt all wore the garter my nana wore on her wedding day. It’s so special to incorporate a family tradition, and I hope one day my children can continue it!”

“Lauren and Tyler shared a beautiful June wedding full of lush florals and lots of joy. The two of them began dating in high school, but actually met when they were 3 years old in daycare. Their mothers both have a photograph of the two of them in daycare from when they were 3! No one would have known that they would end up married 20 years later.”

How did you two meet? What were your first impressions of one another? “Tyler and I met in high school when we were 15! We didn’t actually go to the same high school, but met through mutual friends. We started dating when we were 16 and have been inseparable ever since!”

What part of your wedding day was/is most important to you? “I’m going to be cliche and say marrying my best friend! After having dated for 7 years and done long distance, it was a long time coming! My second favorite would be our first touch. We were able to calm our nerves and read letters to each other in private before the ceremony! I still wanted to see each other for the first time as I walked down the aisle but this was such a special moment to be able to have beforehand!”

Describe a hurdle you had to overcome in your relationship or during your wedding planning. “Like I mentioned above, we went to different colleges so we had to do long distance for four years. It was definitely hard but I think in the end it made our relationship stronger! We had to learn how to communicate better, and we got to have our own college experiences and friends! Plus we visited each other all the time so we both got two college experiences in a way!

As for wedding planning, it was definitely the stress of planning on top of not knowing if we could have our wedding or if we would have to end up rescheduling due to covid. We’re so thankful that we were lucky enough to have been able to have our wedding, my heart went out to everyone who had to reschedule or cancel.”

What was your favorite part about planning your wedding? “I love being creative and planning so it was so fun for me. Going to tour venues with my fiancé was probably me favorite. We got to picture ourselves getting married at each place and then pick one and a day that will be our anniversary date! I loved the whole process and then seeing it all come together on the actual day was so magical.”

Tell us a funny story relating to your wedding day or relationship!“Tyler and I actually went to different colleges after graduating high school, and somehow ended up at rivaling schools. I went to the university of Oklahoma and he went to Oklahoma state university. We are pretty competitive so when our schools play in football it’s a big day in our house. We also had to make a rule that there would be no school colors or songs or anything at our wedding!!”

What is the best thing you’ve learned from one another? “Tyler has taught me patience and selflessness. He is definitely the more calm of the two of us and I always say that my favorite trait about him is how selfless he is. He is always willing and there to help others before himself, no matter what. I’d love to be more like him in that way.

Of the things Lauren has taught me, my favorite one is how to live in the moment. She helps me to get out of my comfort zone and do things I never would before, she’s truly amazing and has helped me to become the man I am today.”

If you had one piece of advice for other couples, what would it be? “Don’t stress! The planning process can be stressful but it goes by so fast. It’s such a fun season of life so don’t wish it away. Also, get a wedding planner even if it’s just for the day of! Alexa Kay events was a life saver! She made sure everything went perfectly so we didn’t have to stress or do anything on our day other than soak it all in!!”

What is the most honest thing you can say about love? “It’s so fun! It sounds weird/cliche but once you’ve found it, life is just more fun doing with with someone you love. I couldn’t think of anything I’d rather be doing that spending my life loving the person I’m with!”
