The natural world is filled with intricate, awestruck wonders, and I believe with all of my heart that they are often the truest reflections of love: raw and burgeoning under the elements. Each particle has a role, each subtlety has a place in the grander and more artful whole — more than that, they have a way of cutting the excess and dealing with the exactitudes of life itself.
Even so, when we think of breath and being, our eyes fill with visions of teeming forests and crashing waves; we rarely dream of desert lands and arid landscapes. But that is the beauty of the desert, as in love… it’s unyieldingly itself, deceptively beautiful, and faithfully alive in all its wanderings.
A word from the creatives:
“Love is an Oasis
I have very romantic feelings about the desert. Where some see emptiness, I see an open expanse painted by sand. Where some see nothing but sand, I imagine a night sky filled with stars. And where some see what’s missing, I see a beautiful canvas where two people can tuck away to celebrate their love for each other, for themselves, and for the beauty of nature.
Those were my feelings from seeing the inspiration behind this styled shoot where I imagined this couple eloping in the middle of the desert with comforts and luxuries that they brought with them to adorn the plain but beautiful desert landscape. She closes her eyes as the wind sweeps through her chiffon dress and hair, while he smiles at the sand between his toes. They enjoy their special day, dine in the glow of sunset, and dance into the starry night.”
