“A Copenhagen Micro Wedding Inspirational to Bring Hope in a Time of Uncertainty. Frilly flowers and delicate silks danced gently throughout the room as the soft northern breeze seeped through the cracked window. Outside, on the other side of the window, the streets of Copenhagen were almost barren, a stark contrast to the usual hustle and bustle of pedestrians and bicyclists embarking on their daily commute. The news of a worldwide pandemic and a government issued lockdown had slowed the city to almost a halt, and an eerie feeling of fear and uncertainty lurked in the streets. It was in the midst of this eerie stillness that some of the best Copenhagen wedding vendors decided to bond together to create an inspirational shoot to inspire love and hope during a time of so much uncertainty and fear. A reminder, amidst a global pandemic, that love is what binds us together, and love is what will carry us through.

We started with a blank canvas; a bright open venue with white walls and big windows. A blank page ready for the first lines of poetry to be written. We added beautiful and frilly florals in organic and asymmetrical shapes on the table, a cascade of soft naturally dyed silk and a delicate touch of greenery to the arch. The complementing stationery was carefully pressed onto handmade paper in soft blush tones. A silk ribbon adorning the vow books in which the couple’s declaration of love to each other is written. A gorgeous garden of florals springing from the ground and growing upwards, adorns the velvety surface of a moss-green antique chair. A perfect boudoir spot for the bride to sit, relax and enjoy a few elegant moments, getting ready in her handmade bridal robe. Once ready, she changes into her bespoke handmade gown before joining her partner-to-be under the delicate arch. The couple celebrates their union with floral confetti falling from the air, and for a moment time seems to stand still. But this time, the stillness isn’t eerie or filled with fear and uncertainty. Instead, it’s a calm warmth that radiates from the inside. It is the delicate stillness of love. The world might feel uncertain right now and filled with fear, but it is our hope that this shoot will be inspiring to others in reminding them that the love we have for each other is the poetic magic that will allow the world to once again flourish. The world is a blank canvas, and it is through love that we will be able to fill it once again with beauty, light, and calm. Starting from within and radiating outwards. Just like we took this bright open venue and created an oasis of love in the midst of a desert of uncertainty.” – Jeanette Merstrand Photography
