An Intimate Elopement in Charleston

On a crisp December afternoon, Rebecca and Kyle exchanged vows in the quiet elegance of Charleston, SC—a place they now call home. Drawn to the intimacy of an elopement but desiring a moment rich in meaning, they chose to celebrate in Hampton Park, where beautiful crepe myrtles draped in Spanish moss created a naturally exquisite setting.

With only two close family members, their officiant, and photographer (me!) in attendance, the ceremony was beautifully understated, allowing the significance of the moment to take center stage. Warm sunlight on the chilly day filtered through the trees, casting an angelic glow as they spoke their vows. It echoed the meaning of the day, with the simplicity of nature creating what felt grand.

Rebecca embodied modern elegance in a sleek, refined gown, epitome of sophistication. She carried a bouquet of white florals and lush greenery—a perfect balance of organic beauty and timeless design. Kyle opted for a classic, tailored look, complementing her with understated refinement. Even their beloved pup was a seamless part of the day, donning a tailored tuxedo vest that subtly tied into the aesthetic.

After the ceremony, they spent the afternoon wandering through Charleston’s historic streets, capturing the essence of the city in a series of timeless portraits. From cobblestone alleys to grand architectural details, every backdrop felt effortlessly in sync with the day’s quiet opulence. Their celebration was never about spectacle—it was about presence, intention, and embracing the beauty of an intimate, deeply personal beginning of this new beautiful chapter in their life.

How did you two meet? What were your first impressions of one another?
Kyle and I met working in a hospital in upstate New York. We were both nurses in the Emergency Department and met through a mutual friend.

My first impression of Rebecca was that she was quiet, smart and driven. I remember feeling like “I need to know more about this girl.”

My first impression of Kyle was that he was tall, quiet and very smart. I remember we were both quiet towards each other. Im pretty sure I ignored him at first (LOL) until one day we just started talking. We have pretty much been inseparable ever since.

What is the best thing you’ve learned from one another?
The best thing I have learned from Rebecca is not to be so serious. She’s taught me to let things roll off my back more easily and to not let things I cannot control negatively affect my day.

The best thing I’ve learned from Kyle is to do what makes me happy and to stand up for myself. For so long I was always worried about what others thought or was worried about how something I did would make me look. Kyle has helped me realize that I should be making decisions based on what I want and what makes me happy. I am definitely a more confident person since meeting Kyle.

What is your favorite thing about each other?
My favorite thing about Kyle is that he is kind, respectful, patient and also my bet friend. We share many of the same hobbies and interests so we always have stuff we want to do together. It makes just hanging out so much fun.

My favorite thing about Rebecca is how playful she can be. We always have a lot of fun together, no matter what we are doing.

What was your favorite part about planning your wedding?
Our favorite part of planning our wedding was how simple and intimate it was going to be. We knew we didn’t have to stress about planning a traditional wedding with hundreds of people and actually found the planning process pretty quick and enjoyable. It was really important for us to include our pup, Rip, in our special day. Our officiant, Cori, and photographer, Melissa, were extremely accommodating.
